schweinhart
Caught Antonio Cromartie's interview profile on the NFL Network and he promises he'll be a receiver's worst nightmare because they're not going to be used to a CB as fast, strong and big as he is. Also said he's laid back off the field but probably talks more trash on the field than Fred Smoot. On the whole, Cromartie sounds as determined to succeed as any prospect I've heard interviewed. A lot of his decision to enter early sounds like it has to do with taking care of his mom financially but he sounded cold-blooded sincere when he said it's been a dream of his to play in the NFL since he started playing organized football at age 5.Given his workout list starting with the Dolphins and teams going into the 2nd round, it looks like where Cromartie will be picked is one of the bigger wildcards of the draft. They showed Mike Mayock CB rankings and he has Cromartie ranked the #4 CB behind Huff, Hill and Joseph with Jimmy Williams and Kelly Jennings behind him. ArmyBengal
Here's a story about Williams from NFL.comhttp://nfl.com/draft/story/9381238I think I'll be more than happy with a CB in the 1st regardless, because all of these guys can bring it...WHODEY !!! Stripes
Cromartie just continues to look better and better as a Bengals prospect. That might not be a good thing if someone that picks ahead of us agrees.
HairOnFire
There was a nice article on Cromartie in this mornings edition of USA Today. The thing that caught my eye was his coaches admitting that they feared he was too small to play college ball when they signed him, but he was already 10 lbs heavier when he reported. He then continued to gain size by weightlifting and following their intructions to the letter regarding diet. They said he was a very hard worker who "got it" early and that focus helped dramatically with his rehab.

His motivation is llike so many others.. for his family, mom in particular...He is a highly lmotivated kid with a great presonality.. I think he'll be a consideration if he's on the board. If Jimmy Williams is on the board he's the man though...

You can't contractually protect yourself and regain bonus money if a guy get's turdish. So preparation, dedication, and commitment are qualities stressed even more. And on an unrelated note, this is exactly why I'm expecting AMAZING things from David Pollack this coming year. He's such a student of the game and prepares so well i believe he'll break out with some LB experience under his belt.
Whur CHad At?
I think Cromartie will be long gone before we pick, honestly. He is an awfully big risk being he only did start "one" game, but it would be a risk worth taking. I believe we will select Nick Mangald, Eric Winston, or Ashton Youboty with the first pick to be honest with ya. Although I would love to see us take KO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! schweinhart
It does look like Cromartie's chances of lasting until #24 are slimming. The flies in the ointment look like the Chiefs at #20 and now the Niners at #22 but I'm still banking on enough doubts being left out there about Cromartie to keep him in the mix.If Cromartie is not there, I hope the Bengals take a long hard look at Ko. If they think he can do 3 things -- play free safety (which no one should doubt), interchange to play either safety and play James CB position better than Keiwan -- then they ought to target him over at the very least sucker CBs like Youboty and Marshall who look mainly like straight zone corners to me. I'm not buying into some of the mocks and such about Ko being a 3rd rounder. Bing I can buy as a 3rd rounder but not Ko. But who knows? The Bengals.com article not long ago about Madieu being the best slot CB on the team should illustrate that a viable FS -- especially a genuine ballhawker like Ko -- is a good draft strategy if the Bengals can't upgrade the slot CB through the draft. CBs like Hill, Cromartie and Kelly Jennings would do that, but IMO Marshall, Youboty and probably Joseph won't. But Ko at #24 is still a reach, yet also a good opportunity to trade out of the 1st altogether and land a couple extra picks of talented players in the middle rounds of this draft. ArmyBengal
Yep, and if Allen falls due to his hip, Ko would definitely move up considerably. It's just nice to know that even sitting at #24 we are going to get someone that will help us out and there isn't as much concern (at least in my mind)...WHODEY !!!
