BengalPappaw
I sure hope that Manny Lawson isn't this year's Shazor. Manny does have speed going for him and that can make up for a lot of mistakes.Manny Lawson's foot speed at 245 pounds - 4.4 40Ernest Shazor foot speed at 215 pounds - 4.8 40and that is why Shazor went undraftedThat was my point -- speed is the major factor that Lawson offers. It is speed that should keep him from becoming last year's Shazor.BUT, Lawson is getting about as much hype as Shazor did last year. It will be interesting to see where Lawson goes this year. TJJackson
Which is strange because once Shazor's foot speed came out, he should have been forgotten.Lawson on the other hand should be getting virtually the same attention Vernon Davis is, as Lawson is nearly as much of a physical freak as Davis. Lawson isn't getting the attention because Davis is of the right size and experience for the position he will play in the NFL, while Lawson, err, isn't (size of LB, expereince is primarily at DE)I say we play him as a passing downs DE and on all special teams for all of 2006, while he uses 2006 to bulk up (preferably all muscle evenly distributed lower and upper) to the 265-275 range. We don't even try to convert him to LB. Then next year, we have Justin Smith's replacement on hand, and probably an absolute terror at DE

What on the juice? get real please...He gains all that weight and his time is now around 4.7 or so ...He's best left at 245-250 with speed..... TJJackson
Then give him 2 years, targeting 255-260 by the end of 2006, 265 by the start of 2007.He's 6 foot 5 and a half. He has the size to add the weight.
