luxm
What is the big deal about Matt Shaub (Backup QB for Atlanta Falcons)??!! I was just reading Pro Football Talk and they are reporting that the Vikings are offering a SECOND ROUND PICK for him, but the Falcons want a FIRST ROUNDER!!! HE'S A BACKUP QUARTERBACK!! We traded one of the best STARTING running backs in the game two years ago for a second round pick ... I just ask, if anyone has any insight on this, what is so great about Matt shaub?? Kazkal
He is a backup but he is worthy to be a starter if I was the falcons i'd trade vick and start schaub

Schaub is a better QUARTERBACK than Vick. Vick is a better ATHLETE than Schaub.
kayaker0678
Matt Shuab is the best QB on that team. I have been wanting him to start at qb and turn Vick into a Half back

I have been wanting him to start at qb and turn Vick into a Half backor a WR which would probably benefit the team but dont tell the Falcons that. ArmyBengal
The Falcons would scare me more if Shaub was starting instead of Vick when we had to play them this year. Vick doesn't put fear in the hearts of a defense for anything more than his feet, he doesn't impress me as a QB at all...WHODEY !!!
Folz
Matt Shaub played once last year against the patriots, and he played way better than vick ever could against them. He played in basically the exact same offense in college that Atlanta runs right now. That is why he is so good in their system.

kingwilly
Schaub keeps getting the mentions because he is basically an NFL starting QB stuck behind one of the biggest marketing ploys ever foisted upon the NFL fanbase.Vick is an amazing athlete, who, when healthy can be as electirfying as he can be horrible. The NFL has built him up to sell tickets, sell the TV packages and sell the league. He is barey average, as far as QB;s go.Schaub is a very refined pocket passer who possess the kind of skills that can effectively manage and execute Atlanta's offense. Except for his legs, Schaub, IMHO, would offer Atlanta the best chance to win.I personally think Schaub is going nowhere because deep down, Atlanta knows all of this and will hold on to Schaub save the most ridicluous offer. I also think it is only a matter of time until Vick gets another moderately severe injury that will keep him off the field for 6-9 games and then Schaub will get his shot to fully expose himself as a winning NFL QB. Kazkal
I wonder how long he is locked up for.
derekshank
Well, it doesn't really matter how we all feel about Vick and or Schaub. Neither are available the to Bengals... so this discussion really does belong in the generic NFL discussion forum.However... put me down for a vote that Vick is good. He doesn't compile a good passer rating, because he's not a typical QB. He finds ways to win games... just not in the same way that other QB's do. Atlanta's problem is they aren't tailoring their offense to their best player. Square peg in a round hole... or something like that. Just because Vick doesn't do things in the normal way, doesn't make him average... because he has an element to his game that no other NFL QB has... even if the team is stupid enough to try to limit how much he uses that... he is still special. Kazkal
Vicks great and a game changer but every game with him is a boom or bustwill he rush for 100+ yards + throw well? or will he fumble it 4 times or get hurt
Stripes
I used to side with the people who argue that Vick is better than he gets credit for... Now I'm not so sure. His effectiveness with his legs can be limited with a fast linebacking corps. Sure, he does explode for an occassional 100 yard rushing game, but at the same time he struggles to throw for 150 in ANY game. His completion percentage isn't getting much better, and his touchdown/interception ratio is nothing to be desired.Count me as one that thinks the Falcons would be a better team with Matt Schaub at the helm. They have a pretty talented array of wide receivers, and an underrated starting running back to work behind him. Vick doesn't allow them to work all those players to their fullest advantage.
