nechemia
just curious if anyone else thinks it is complete bulls**t that the schedulemakers, whoever the f these guys are, couln't wait until Carson would definitely be back before sending us to Pittsburgh, a game which would have been the game of the year...who knows, maybe Doug Johnson will have the game of his life
Sox
The schedule makers owe the Bengals nothing. With or without Carson...bring em' on I say.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Who says Carson Palmer won't be back for that game? Last estimate was that he would be back to start the season.

(Anyone else notice we contributed to the demise of three NFL coaches?)There is a terrific comparison of the AFC North Schedules in another thread that makes a great case that Pittsburgh has the toughest schedule in the division. The schedule is what it is, suck it up and move on. You think any of those head coaches and defensive coordinators are happy to see us on the schedule? I doubt it.
ArmyBengal
Ok, and when another key player goes down, maybe we can get them to rearrange the schedule until our guy comes back. Or better yet, maybe we could trade Indy in in order to play New Orleans twice...No one owes the Bengals anything and anyway around the Steelers have to come into Cincinnati for the last game of the season and it could very well be the game to decise the Division. I like our chances !!!WHODEY !!!
derekshank
The biggest reason for the bitching is we just realized what the new CBA did. Most of the teams on our schedule were going to have to make some pretty big cuts in order to stay under the cap. Now, they get to stay mostly in tact.KC and Denver didn't lose anybody... and they were hopelessly over the cap before. Tampa Bay was set to lose half of their defense because the top 7 highest paid players were on defense... but they got to keep all of them AND re-sign Chris Hovan. The Panthers were able to re-sign their FA's, AND get Keyshawn. The schedule just looks a lot tougher to me now then it did before the CBA. Really... the only 2 good things that happened in our schedule is that Drew Brees left SD, and James left Indy... but I'm betting neither of those teams are going to be gimmie's even without those players (especially since the Indy game is at Indy). The Steelers have to play the same teams we do (with Jax and Mia traded for NE and Indy... probably a wash) We still have a chance to win the division. It's just disheartening to think about Palmer not being 100% AND having the toughest schedule in the NFL (whether that is true or not is yet to be determined, but it still is a bummer to think about). My guess is 10 wins will win the division... but the combination of our schedule and the possibility of starting the season without Palmer makes 10 wins seem pretty damn difficult. I'm not bitching... but I'm not feeling as confident as I did last year. Maybe the defense will pull and Indy... and carry this team for the early part of the season... but I'm thinking we need Palmer back earlier than later to win this division again. The bengals aways have to prove they are for real, this is there big chance. When the draft is over and camp Marvin is done we should be ready to ROLL. benglsdrumr
Assuming that Carson is out the first month and comes back by the Bucs game, does anyone, besides me, believe that we can go on a 9 game winning streak (or get at least 9 wins out of the last 12 games)?? I think we'll have the same record as last year if not better. Also, I think having Indy and the Broncos at the end of our schedule is great cuz one or both of them can have their division wrapped up and mite not play all their starters. Then again, we'll probably have the division wrapped up so it wont matter!! WHO-DEY BIATCH!!!
Kazkal
I'm mad about the 1 MNF we only get 2 primetime games if they decide give us the 2nd one over another team that week

ShulaSteakhouse
Anyone who plays a non-NFC North or West schedule is saying the same things we are.

WHO-DEY BIATCH!!!I for one think that 10-6 is a best-case scenario if Palmer is out for the first 4 games. 11-5 seems out of reach to me. We will be a better team... but our schedule is tougher... and the teams we are playing for the most part are getting better too.Last year our tough out of division games were games like @Chi, Indy, @Jax, and @KC. We lost 3 of those 4. (We can argue that we didn't really play against KC... but we didn't even show up). This year we have @KC, NE, @TB, Car, SD, Atl, @Ind, @Den. That is twice as many really tough games. I just don't see us rolling off 9 in a row at any time in the season, with or without Palmer. I think we're good enough to win the super bowl with an improved defense, and Palmer in there... but when you play this many tough teams this many weeks in a row, you are bound to lose a couple. I would be pretty happy to go 5-3 against the teams I listed above. If we can manage that... we'll just have to take care of business in the division... at that means beating Pittsburgh the last game of the season. Whur CHad At?
Our schedule is hard, but it is good for us. We will be more playoff ready then, and then we will dominate
