semiotter
Well guys its the start of a new season and I was wondering what you think the big stories will be this year or some of your picks on the AL and NL.??? Besides all the Barry Bonds stuff, I see alot of new players making a impact this season with Cleveland and Oakland with alot of them. Will there be another team like the White Sox thats comes out and suprises us? Some experts say Oakland could be this team this year with some good young players and really good pitching. I sound like a homer but I think the REDS will make some noise this year. They really looked good this spring and with the late pick up of Bronson Arroyo they might sneek in there. I still think St. Louis is gonna win the div. with Houston close but I think we will stay with them so maybe have a outside chance for Wildcard shot. Dont really think Cubs will do anything and Mil. and Pitt. bring up the rear. I think this is the year the Braves come in second behind the METS. With the Phillies looking strong. Dont be suprised if they make a strong push to. In the WEST I really dont know because it really looks close between the Giants, Dodgers and Padres. Flip a coin on the Div. The AL is really good this year. We all know that the White Sox, Yankees and BoSox still on top of the heep. But alot of teams are trying to push ther way into that group. With Cleveland heading that group. Toronto got the chekbook out this winter and got some great free agents. So you can put them in that mix to. Some suprises might be Detroit, Texas, Oakland and Baltimore(you know I had to put them in there ). So I think its wide open this year and am really looking for this season. So dont let all the steroid talk get you down or turn against the game, because everyday we are going to here that BS. And we are going to see Barry Bonds on TV 24/7. Its going to be a great year and enjoy it . I know you real Baseball fans will.....PLAY BALL and go Os!
ArmyBengal
If the Reds pitching doesn't come through...I expect to be bored with baseball before the All-Star game... WHODEY !!!
BengalszoneBilly
What am I expecting? With the Reds? Well let me see. Going ONLY on what I've been fed every single season since the Marge Schott/Lou Pinella "Wire-To-Wire" 1990 World Series season? I'm going to have to say a big double helping of bitter disappointment.Granted. Clueless Carl is gone. This is a new season under new management. Only time will tell if the menu changes here at the "Chateau Chitter".
bengalboomer7
They just don't have the horses. I think they'll be exciting with a lot of high scoring games, but the pitching staff has to extremely overachieve to go anywhere.BTW, don't miss Bonds on Bonds tomorrow night
LB51
Unfortunately, baseball has become the have's v/s the have nots and we fall into the latter category. I'm sure our team payroll is equal to if not less than a few teams starting rotation's payroll. That makes for a tough hill to climb.Until Baseball adopts a better plan( like that of the NFL) we will probably see losing season after losing season around here. BengalszoneBilly
BTW, don't miss Bonds on Bonds tomorrow night C'mon Boomer. Look behind what Barry is doing here. HE has complete control over the shows content. ESPN is simply providing the cameras. Best Damn Sports basically said ESPN sold out. I must concur. CBin2k7
When you look at it, it's not really all about our payroll. We can be competitive with a 65-80 million dollar pay roll. But the complete organizational mismanagement from the 80's until recently has left the minor leagues a mess. Every now and again we hit, with Dunn, Kearns, Encarnacion... but it's been too long since we have developed a pitcher. What makes it worse we have no prospects to trade for pitching, it's going to take time, but I believe Krivsky will build it up, using the Twins model. bengalboomer7
Trust me, Billy I don't think you'll have to worry about that s**t being on my TV. Although, the unintentional comedy just might be worth a peek!
