Seahawks | Three of the four disputed Super Bowl XL calls were correct

Thu, 30 Mar 2006 17:14:46 -0800

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports NFL officiating director Mike Pereira said three of the four controversial calls during Super Bowl XL were ruled correctly. The holding penalty on Seattle Seahawks OG Sean Locklear, WR Darrell Jackson's pass interference, and Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's touchdown run were all ruled correctly. He admitted that the officials clearly missed when Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was flagged for an illegal block. Pereira said, "To me, it's a hard game to officiate. With that being said, we have to fight to get better. We had some mistakes in the playoffs and we've had to suffer the consequences."

Now, my line of thought on this is.... What the hell did they expect the NFL Officiating Director to say ???

I still think the calls were not quite the simple calls they make them out to be and disagree, but at the same time, I am ready to move on from this topic and focus on us this upcoming year !!!

WHODEY !!!

Okay. Hold on. I just fell off the turnip truck yesterday, so go slow and let me get this straight. The director of NFL Officiating >Mike Pereira< investigated the questionable calls made by his own people/buddies during the Super Bowl, then walks that report across the hall and gives it to his boss/buddy, who in turn officially releases it to the press to distribute for mass swallowing by the public, following which they all collectively head down to Buffalo Wild Wings to catch the $1.50 pitchers on domestic beer happy hour? Damn. Talk about the old "open your mouth, and close your eyes, and you will get, a big surprise" routine... Sheesh!

Ya know what's even harder than that Mikie? To get an unbiased investigation of an organization, from within' that same organization, pal! You know the problems, like how you're constantly running into those darn "conflict of interests" issues, or having to point out the fact that your old college frat chum that you gave that cool job to is a blithering, incompetent IDIOT! Great investigation there Columbo!

BTW Mr. Pereira, the Bush Administration called. They want their secret internal investigations procedures manual back if you're all done with it now. :lmao:

Funny stuff there Billy !!!

WHODEY !!!

It's just that I'm still digusted by that TD call on Roethlisberger. I still say no way, but f**k it. It's over.

What's NOT over is the fact the we are basically still stuck with officials working in the NFL that are simply inefficient, if not out right incompetent and/or biased in their work. The outcry over the calls made in this Super Bowl were league wide. Not just us Steeler hating Bengals fans. FACT!

Let me put it to you this way, and I'll say no more about it. You know you're doing a f**cked up job in sports when Jon Stewart leads off The Daily Show show lampooning you on the Comedy network.
