Dolphins | Deal for Harrington appears to be fading away

Thu, 6 Apr 2006 06:27:47 -0700

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports a deal between the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins for QB Joey Harrington continued to stall, and the Dolphins are preparing for the chance the deal might not get done.

The idea of waiting for Joey Harrington doesn't bother me at all. I'm guessing that the Lions will feel a push to get something done before the draft so the wait a team will have to endure is likely to be no more than 3 more weeks. And if the Lions let the draft come and go without a trade I'd be comfortable waiting for them to release Harrington outright prior to June 15.

BTW, the recent remark from Jamie Martin's agent implies that the Bengals are only offering him a NFL veteran minimum contract.

DUNN USING BENGALS AS LEVERAGE

Although agent David Dunn supposedly has debunked a report that Lions quarterback Joey Harrington prefers the Dolphins to the Bengals as his next destination, word around the league is that Dunn has no intention of sending Harrington to Cincinnati, where another Dunn client, Carson Palmer, is the current starter.

But unless the Dolphins think that Harrington has a legitimate alternative elsewhere, Dunn has no leverage in his discussions with Miami.

The weird twist here is that the Bengals are genuinely interested in Harrington, since Jon Kitna has left for Detroit and Carson Palmer is rehabbing a torn ACL. But Dunn, we hear, is concerned that Palmer might not be at 100 percent at any point in 2006, putting Dunn in the awkward position of representing the two principals in a four-month quarterback merry-go-'round.

Show me on here where it says Palmer will not be back in 2006. It's bad enough that we have to listen to rumors from all over the NFL and then we have bengals fans on this board adding to the rumors. I know we are not spossed to bash other posters on this board, but F*CK you Spain for making people on this board think you really saw that somewhere when in fact you just made it up. That is bullsh*t

The Lions are letting it be known that they are prepared to wait until the summer to trade Harrington in order to get what they want.

Yea right the Lions are going to shell out $4.5 million (with the cap hit) in June because they hope that somehow they will get more for Harrington in July.

If the Lions dick around with this for much longer teams are most likely going to decide to just wait until June and Harrington will end up walking for nothing.

In any case a 6th round pick is all that he is worth and that is only if they do a deal now.

The Lions are not quite in the drivers seat they think they are... If they want to try to tell teams they want a 4th or better for Harrington, they won't get sh*t. If they try to hold onto him they will end up having to cut him, because they won't shell out the $$$ for his monkeyass and they'll get NOTHING. Millen really is a F*CKING idiot !!!

WHODEY !!!
