Low hit or not???

  1. 1. Here is the scenario: Ben Roethlisberger is in the pocket and Hines Ward is streaking down the field wide open, David Pollack is on the ground but has a shot to hit Roethlisberger low and stop the play. Should he:

    • Hit the QB low and take the 15 yard penalty
      6
    • Let the QB go and give him a chance to throw a TD pass
      7

Why??? Are you saying that you would honestly rather lose a game than take a penalty??? We are not talking about intentionally diving at a guys knees when you can hit him in the chest. We are talking about being on the ground and having a shot at making a play. Technically this is now a penalty, but don't you think most players are going to try and make that tackle and take the penalty instead of losing the game?

If you are that gun shy about hitting somebody maybe you should follow soccer or baseball. Football is about hitting and contact. Players will get hurt in the course of games, making parts of the game penalties wont stop the contact or the injuries, that is the point.

Chop blocks are much more dirty than tackeling a QB below his knees. When you intentionally dive at somebodys legs, spike a guy on his head, gouge somebodys eye at the bottom of the pile, then that is dirty. Tackeling a QB low when you are blocked into the ground is football and these new rules are for pu$$ies IMO....

Then I guess I'm a p***y. I personally think hitting a QB low on purpose would be completely unnacceptable, and I don't care how that compares to a chop block. Those suck too. Is saving an injury worth losing a game? Of course it is.

After a quick browse through your post history, I'm tempted to call you an imposter. I'll refrain, just because of your nice little avatar.

I apologize for having class. Carry on with your little poll, kiddo (though you obviously aren't very fond of opinion differing from your own, making me question why you'd even put this thread up). I'm not about to get into some juvenile argument with someone that compares distaste for intentional injury to girl's softball (which can be good television when it's airing on ESPN 2).

like it or not the Steelers used it to win a superbowl. The real ? is will inferior teams like the steelers that cant beat your QB start going at legs in the playoffs now. Cowher a real bastard. The NFl wants this ubnder the rug. Bad publicity when your super farce winner got there dirty.

I agree with TDB as well... No reason whatsoever to go after a QB who's just standing there after releasing the ball (see Carson). Now, IF the QB still has the ball and is trying to evade the defensive player, you get to him and stop the play. That does NOT translate into going after his knee, it translates into make the play like you would on any other player you would be pursuing...

WHODEY !!!
