Spain
Well with all the big money guns gone, Arrington looks to be the Big loser. With the draft right around the corner this guy is going to lose millions. 4.5 million to get out of washington. Now he doesnt get the contract like peterson. Everything is going to chill because of the draft. Those guys still out there like Adams , and arrington are going to lose milions. How will this affect our FAs is the real ?. We havent even talked money. Marvin clearly wouldnt pay what Arrington wanted. If he hasnt visited us , its because the numbers are way to far apart. However after the draft do you think he might be in our range.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Noone has become a loser. Free agency isn't over. Sapp took forever to sign a couple years ago, and Oakland still overpaid him.If anyone took a hit in free agency, it's the guys who got cut before the CBA was done, or guys like Joey Harrington who had a job and lost it to a free agent. Spain
No Arrington could have waited and forced the Redskins to release him. no he wanted in the big cash so he bought his way out. Now he just wants to break even and no one is steeping up. All according to PFT, love them are hate them. How many visits can a guy do?LOL Sounds like his price is coming down. The guy can laugh at you and say dude, you agreed to grow these weeds and provide me with marijuana for the next three years. It's not my fault you didn't read the contract. You're stuck in it. If you want to buy your way out, noone else should be expected to make up for your losses, that's called business.
Section 310
I have read elsewhere that Arrington is using the Bengals (and at least one other team) to leverage some kind of deal with Miami. He apparently likes the South Beach scene and would like to play in the warmer climate.I would like to think that the Bengals have a shot at the guy, but realistically, I don't think the team would pay anything close to the money he seeks. Someone will overpay for the guy.
The_Next_Big_Thing
You probably read that Arrington is using the Bengals for leverage on a certain other fan site that still thinks Sapp used us for leverage to get to Oakland. Sorry Charlie, but we STILL haven't invited Arrington to town. We gave Sapp an offer and then realized he stunk and sent him packing. The players are not in the driver's seat, we are. Spain
What money were we talking about? He probably thought at the time he wouldnt sign for that. He might not. Yes he did get screwed he could have waited to be released but he thought he would get the peterson deal. He didnt. From now the bargain basement shoppers like the Pats , Indy, Bengals might seee some active of season once the draft is over.

The players are not in the driver's seat, we are. What team were you watching? The Bengals got used and abused by Sapp. The media and fans were clamoring for them to make a splash in free agency by signing Sapp (who at that point was on the slide, but nowhere near the bum he has become). Sapp played a couple of teams before ultimately signing with the Raiders. The Bengals never "sent him packing." He left us at the altar. This same sceario played out numerous times in the Coslet and LeBeau eras...remember Tony Siragusa coming for a visit? He supposedly likely Cincinnati and thought they were up and coming..blah, blah, blah....then signed with Baltimore. My point is that the Bengals can never be considered "in the driver's seat" when it comes to free agency. They are not willing to manuever under the cap like other teams. In the end this may be a great strategy, but until Lewis builds a defense that can stop the run, it is frustrating for all involved. ArmyBengal
Dude, you are WAAAAAAY OFF with the Sapp situation last season... The Bengals had an offer on the table. Sapp didn't decline the offer, the BENGALS PULLED THE OFFER BACK !!! They realized Sapp wasn't worth what they were offering and sent him on his way to be overpaid by the Raiders. Has this been a repetitive thing here with the team (Getting used) ?? Yes, but the Sapp situation was COMPLETELY different. For a change, we gave SAPP the big middle finger !!! WHODEY !!! We had Sapp signed. We decided, after his physical, that he wasn't worth the money we offered him because his fat butt wasn't in shape. We lowered our offer, and finished up the trade for Deltha instead. Deltha was a MUCH better deal than fatt butt.Once upon a time we were used as bait. That changed the day we ended our losing stream and became serious.
HairOnFire
After the visit that wasn't I think we all need to reconsider just how interested the Bengals are in Arrington. He's visited all of the teams rumored to be interested in him except Cincy.....and the way the so-called wires were crossed makes it seem likely that his agent was guilty of generating a level of interest that wasn't really there in the first place. Section 310
Regarding Senor Sapp....He never took a physical or signed with the Bengals. The official version from Sapp is that he asked for an hour to consider the deal. In reality, Rosenhaus was on the horn with Davis. The Bengals deal was never signed and Sapp became a Raider.http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/7212471
bengalboomer7
Even when he's right, you crucify him. Most of the BIG MONEY is gone in FA, especially with teams like the Skins, Cowboys, and Raiders cashed out. None of these guys will get the money they want. Ty Law, Charles Woodson, Lavar, Adams, Jackson, no one. What encourages me, is their is still some help out there, and the market is coming down to Cincy's standards. Still, don't expect too many flashy names across your Bottom Line.Oh, and we pulled the Sapp offer

Marvin shouted sweet nothings to him from a bullhorn, but the helicopter's rotors drowned him out. Remarkably, Arrington's agent called the visit "positive" and said the Bengals were clearly front runners for 3rd runner-up for Arrington's services...
