schweinhart
Jarious Norwood RB Norwood (5-11¾, 206) lifted the bar 18 times and performed position drills for a Bengals assistant coach. Gil Brandt reported that Bengals took a look at Norwood at Mississippi State's Pro Day. Norwood is most likely a 3rd round pick. He should prove to be an upgrade as a backup between-the-tackles runner over Chris Perry but would the likely pick it will cost to get him be worth it given other team needs? ArmyBengal
Who was the guy we had last year that was named a Rudi Clone ???Is he still with the team ?? If so, this pick would irritate me. Well come to think of it, a RB anywhere near the first 4 rounds would irritate me...WHODEY !!!
schweinhart
Quincy Wilson is still with the team and showed good skills last pre-season. The Bengals could also re-sign Kenny Watson, who IMO is a better blocking 3rd down back and between-the tackles runner than Chris Perry.Using a Day 1 pick on a RB would be somehwat baffling but just so long as it's not at #24 again. ArmyBengal
Yeah, Quincy Wilson, that's him... I think he will keep us from drafting a RB of his style. I would like to see him get a shot a little more...WHODEY !!!
Stripes
I think we'll stick with Watson. He seems to have the most to offer as a 3rd stringer/Rudi backup as far as versatility goes. I'd be happy with Wilson too, he did seem to have potential in last year's preseason. I doubt the Bengals will be drafting a back on the first day, though I wouldn't be at all suprised to see it happen in a middle round. Whur CHad At?
I would be pissed if we drafted a RB, especially that early.Rudi is finePerry is good(I don't know where all the hate came from)Watson is a solid #
thepudgester
Not gonna happen. Makes absolutely no sense. No team logically spends a 3rd Rounder on a 3rd string RB....cough Denver cough....We were just working him out, it didn't say we had interest. We simply were putting him through the drills for other scouts...
Kazkal
RB we are set @ if Rudi goes down we can activate quincy if perry goes down we can activate watson RB is the 1 postion WE should in no way draft inless he can tackle like a LB and be a ST ace then mybe 7th rnd
Whur CHad At?
RB shouldn't be a concern, why waste a draft pick, even if he is a ST ace. Pick him up as a FA

But if they were, no doubt Gil would have wrote what an outstanding lunch it was. I can see Mike willing to foot the bill for that but not sending a coach down to Mississip to work out a player for other teams.Norwood runs flat 4.4, which is smoking for a RB and he's proven between the tackles, but the one thing that stood out about how he was worked at the Senior Bowl was receiving. He has the potential to shift out into the slot. This year is not altogther unlike 2004 in that a RB is definitely needed because there were just 2 -- Rudi and Watson. Now, it's Rudi and Perry. If the Bengals don't re-sign Watson and don't think Wilson can take the step up, they will be poised to draft or sign a 3rd RB. Only hopefully if it is the draft it will be no earlier than the 3rd or 4th like it could've been in 2004 when they could have picked up either Mewelde Moore or Turner the Burner. The_Next_Big_Thing
It's not just Rudi Johnson and Chris Perry. We also have Quincy Wilson signed, and he's a pretty good RB who, like Rudi early on in his career, hasn't had much time in the spotlight to show off on the field much.We MIGHT resign Watson, but even if we don't , we can draft a schlub in round 7 to be the 4th stringer/practice squad fodder. Only problem is he's used up his squad eligiblity. Got to think if the Bengals really thought Wilson was going to be in the future plans, he would've been activated when Perry went down last year. But Wilson or Watson will do IMO, especially at the price it would cost to get Norwood. If they want to draft a RB to compete with Wilson and/or Watson it ought to come later in the draft, say De'Arrius Howard or Quinton Ganther in the 5th or 6th. ArmyBengal
Anyway around, I like where we stand for our RB corps.Wilson just hasn't had his chance, but if given the opportunity, I think he would do very well.WHODEY !!!
cover2
Marvin had a perfect chance to put Wilson in last year and didn't. Was he hurt? Second last game of season?
ArmyBengal
Marvin had a perfect chance to put Wilson in last year and didn't. Was he hurt? Second last game of season? Can't say as I know, but if you are inferring that Wilson isn't that good, then I would say Rudi was never given an opportunity until DickheadDillon went down. I'm not saying Wilson is going to be breaking any club records, but he has that style and strength just like Rudi. He would be a fit somewhere if not here.WHODEY !!!
