derekshank
Two points. First, Krenzel gives them a brainiac who should be capable of playing a conservative brand of football that limits mistakes. Johnson gives them a veteran who has played in multiple schemes. While neither player is the long-term backup QB answer this team is looking for they do represent a reasonable short-term option. It's hardly ideal, but the Bengals can take comfort knowing that they have an elite starter returning at some point, and on that score they have some reason to be optimistic. Either of the two does have something to bring to the table, but I am worried starting either of them over someone better could mean the difference between a 1-3 or a 2-2 start to the season.Yep... no doubt about that.On the other hand... the schedulers could be nice to us, and schedule the Raiders, the Saints, and the Browns twice in those first 4 games... and we could be 4-0 when Palmer comes in! Does that sound unlikely?
ArmyBengal
Well, we know we have KC at KC to start, so that isn't helping...WHODEY !!!
Stripes
Well, we know we have KC at KC to start, so that isn't helping...WHODEY !!! Is that a guarantee yet? Not sure... If so, then I don't think any backup will save us. In KC it'll be Carson or bust!

That doesn't really matter now though. Kitna also faced the Chiefs in 2005, and we lost by like 30 points. I loved 24-19, but that game isn't really a good measuring stick for anything, nor is the game last year.
ArmyBengal
C'mon dude, Kitna beat the Chiefs a couple years back. What have you done for me lately ?? NOTHING, Bengals lose to the Chiefs in an embarrassing loss in 2005... Kitna would not have made me feel any better about going into KC to start...WHODEY !!!
