rwalling
Fox Sports is reporting Pena for Bronson Arroyo.I'm torn. I go a little Bowden-esque over his raw talent; but I wonder if this is Sosa or Mark Whitten???Arroyo is signed for three years at less than $4M/year and would be a significant upgrade. Is it enough to give up on Pena?
johnson85
I heard on 103.9 the X this morning that the reds a looking to trade Willy Mo Pena for Bronson Arroyo or Matt Clement. I havent found anything on the internet about it so I don't know how much truth there is too it. But since it was on the radio there must have been some credible info to it.What are you thoughts on this possible trade? I love it we need as many good pitcher as possible. oldschooler
I`m not crazy about this move... I guess Ryan Freel is the new Left fielder ? Or does Dunn go back to the Outfield ? Reds acquire Bronson Arroyo Wily Mo Pena sent to Boston for starting pitcherCINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds today acquired RHP Bronson Arroyo and cash from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for OF Wily Mo Pena. Arroyo, 29, went 14-10 with a 4.51 ERA in 35 games (32 starts) for the Red Sox last season. He established career highs in wins (14), starts (32) and innings pitched (205.1) while producing a team-high 20 quality starts. Arroyo has appeared in the postseason in each of the last three seasons, including as a member of the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox. Originally selected by the Pirates in the third round of the June 1995 draft, Arroyo owns a career record of 33-33 with a 4.59 ERA in 126 games (90 starts) with Pittsburgh (2000-02) and Boston (2003-05). Pena, 24, batted .248 with 51 HR and 134 RBI in 302 games with the Reds from 2002-05. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5427236
CBin2k7
Maybe, Freel to LF, or Dunn back to the outfield and Hatteburg/Aurilia combo at first.Whatever, can we now get rid of Dave Williams, he is absolutely horrible. Oh and the pitcher, I think his name is Gosling gave up 10 runs in the first inning against Pittsburgh, he can go to.
ArmyBengal
Anything saying we got a pitcher worth more than a horseturd is good by me !!! WHODEY !!!

Whur CHad At?
Harang is having a hell of a spring. I hope to see Homer Bailey make it back up to the majors sometime this year. Apparntley scouts have been saying "he is the real deal". So I am looking foward to seeing that. And I am also looking foward to seeing Arroyo. I think this was a solid move by the Reds Ownership and it shows how commited they are to improving, and winning. It will be exciting! semiotter
just saw on ESPN they traded for Bronson Arroyo!!!! What do you all think of this trade??? We do need P...HEY PLUS WE GOT SOME$$$$$$$$
CBin2k7
Yeah Arroyo is not terrible, he will either be the Reds 1 or 2, He won 14 games last year, and had 20 quality starts. He should be better pitching in the National League now, because of the no DH. I just wish, they would have gotten him for Sean Casey, as was originally offered. The Reds rotation will probably look something like this,A. HarangB. Claussen/E. MiltonB. ArroyoE. Milton/B. ClaussenD. Williams (awful)/P. Wilson (when healthy)
Stripes
I think it is.I love Pena, he's so fun to watch at the plate. Still, he is an abysmal defender and strikes out too much, sometimes at an even higher rate than Adam "Whiffed Again" Dunn.
kentjett
Great move, I love Wily Mo but he had to go. We couldn't afford to have 2 starters that strike out as much as Pena and Dunn do. Arroyo has some good stuff and makes a solid #2 pitcher. I perdict him to win another 14 games and have a ERA around 3.5. I hope we keep Wise as a extra outfielder, this guy is an incredible athlete. He hasn't made an error in a couple of years and his bat is starting to come around. Check out his statistics http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...ts.jsp?c_id=cinPlus he is another guy who has speed.
UofLnMU
I still don't think we got enough for Pena. Arroyo is without doubt in my mind our number one starter, but damn...he's not a Pedro/Matt Morris Dontrell Willis type number one.

I'd agree that Arroyo isn't that caliber of a player, but no team in all of Hell would give up someone like that for Wily Mo.

Unfortunately, it will be late May and we'll be 10+ games out already.

Stripes
I hope big Homer Baily gets promoted, the kid is unreal. I'm excited about Bailey too, but I don't want them rushing him into the majors before he is 100% ready. He looks like the real deal and I don't want his confidence to get crushed early on.
