For the curious, here's the average Wonderlic score by position:
  • Offensive tackles: 26
  • Centers: 25
  • Quarterbacks: 24
  • Guards: 23
  • Tight Ends: 22
  • Safeties: 19
  • Middle linebackers: 19
  • Cornerbacks: 18
  • Wide receivers: 17
  • Fullbacks: 17
  • Halfbacks: 16

Hmmm.... offensive tackles and centers are at the top. Interesting.

That would suggest to me that this statistic is of zero importance... Hell if Brett Favre got a 14, then definitely.

What is the point of these things?

From the files of "I never knew that"...

Bengals TE Pat McInally is the only player to ever score a perfect 50 on the Wonderlic test...

WHODEY !!!

ryan fitzpatrick, the qb from the rams scored a 50. he went to harvard, so it doesn't count.

"Former Cincinnati Bengals tight end Pat McInally, who played from 1976 to 1985, reportedly is the only NFL draft prospect to score a 50 on the test. McInally went to Harvard. So did quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who reportedly scored in the 40s at last year's scouting combine."

So did, as in went to Harvard, not scored a 50...

WHODEY !!!

Harvard quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick took his Wonderlic exam, and got every single question right. That ties him with Pat McInally as the only two people who achieved a perfect score of 50 on the test. However, Fitzpatrick finished his exam in nine minutes! That has got to be a record.

Fitzpatrick did it on his third try, I don't know about McInally.
