CantStop85
Word is Drew Brees will be let go by the San Diego Chargers in favor of Philip Rivers. No source for this right now...just heard it from a San Diego fan.
Whur CHad At?
I do think he will be let go, which I think is horrible. Brees is a good player, and should find work in a hurry.Question is, from who?!
Stripes
I think Brees will struggle with whomever picks him up, but he would have still been a solid player for the Chargers. Unless they have seen some great stuff out of Rivers in his limited action, this seems like a bad idea for them.I suppose people said the same thing when we benched Jon in favor of Carson. I could see him in Miami... A big difference when comparing to Kitna is, Kitna wasn't coming off a playoff type season. This still seems very risky to me from San Diego's standpoint. I don't know what they have seen that gives them the feeling Rivers will take them to the playoffs like I feel Brees would do, but then again, I don't know Brees's injury situation and how rehab may be going...WHODEY !!! mgilgris
I feel this news is good for the bengals, since Brees will be looked at as a stronger canidate for a starting quarterback position making Kitna have less options. The more QBs that test free agency, the better our chances are of retaining kitna. I have never been a big fan of jon but think that his previous experience/knowledge of our offense will make everything smoother while carson is rehabbing. God, I hate agreeing with that statement, but it is what it is, and I see Kitna right here for at least another year...WHODEY !!!
