2005: 14 – 13/27 TTs, 8.5 TFLs, 6 Sacks, 4 FFs, 1 PBU.

Injuries:

2005: Missed games: 3, 4, 5, 6.

Awards:

2003: All ACC 1st team. ACC All Acedemic.

2004: All ACC 2nd team. Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award. Put on Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List.

2005 All ACC 2nd team. Elected “Permanent Team Captain.” Graduated December 17th, 2005.

Records:

1. Leads GT in Career TFLs with 59.5

2. Ranks 4th in Career Sacks with 25

3. Most tackles in single game: 11

4. Most TFLs in a single game: 4

5. Most Sacks in a single game: 3.

Notes:

- Is a very tough, stong, intelligent football player.

- Is a TERROR versus the run.

- Has great sack potential in the NFL. Had good numbers in college but missed to many games to be considered an “elite” sacker.

- Injuries are only minor, nothing serious. Was able to return after each injury.

- Does have speed, but nothing outstanding. Makes up for lack of speed with intelligence and technique.

- Has phenomenal hands and sheds blockers quickly, has a great spin move.

- Is a defensive leader who was nicknamed “The Man” by Defensive Coordinator. Very involved with his teammates.

- Very hard worker and is a true competitor who wants to be the best.

- Does a nice job of “staying at home” and not being fooled by misdirection.

- Active penetrator who has good closing speed.

Conclusion:

- Eric would have been a 1st round consideration had he not been injured. He IS a sack master but his numbers would have you think other wise. His 2003 season is the best indication of what this player can do. This player would greatly benefit from a NFL Defensive line.

I posted Eric and Montavious' profile at the same time for people to hopefully realize that having Henderson and Stanley next to each other on a NFL D-line would make for one of the possible greatest DT - DE combos in history.

Imagine what Eric Henderson and Montavious next to each other could do for the Bengals.

A sack master and a guy who opens up possiblites for sacks....

Henderson would be a nice fit to groom at Justin Smith's spot at LDE. His experience going up against quality LTs in college would serve him well going against RTs in the NFL. Flank him with Stanley and the Bengals D-line might improve in a couple years.

But if it comes down to using a 3rd round pick for a DE, I'd rather see the Benglas take Stanley McClover, whose got a lot more upside than Henderson and speed to burn where he could pose a real threat coming from RDE vs. pass.

Yo! I like the guy, he seems to be an extremely tough football player. Your interest in him seems to be well founded. I would Love to see us pick him up.
