Week 16 (Saturday 12/23): Bengals @ Steelers Game Thread
cincyhokie replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Ah ha! That's it. Interesting observations as I run the playoff simulator. Assuming we beat the Steelers, lose to Chiefs, and beat the Browns, we really need the Texans, Broncos, and Bills to each lose one game. If any of those teams goes 3-0 we are likely out. So if the Bengals go 2-1 we are likely looking at needing the Dolphins to beat the Bills in the last game week 18. However, if the Bengals should go 3-0 we would need, in retrospect the Texans to beat the Browns to pretty much lock up the 5 seed. If the Browns win next week against the Texans, and should the Bengals go 3-0 they would very likely lock up a 6 seed regardless of what the Broncos and Bills do. If the Bengals lose to the Steelers, they justifiably are pretty much done. -
Week 16 (Saturday 12/23): Bengals @ Steelers Game Thread

Question for all the big brains here. I understand the tie breaker for WC seeding with 3 or more teams is conference record. However, with the Bengals tied with the Colts (7), Texans (8), and Bills (9) why are they ahead of all of them as the current 6 seed? They currently have the worst conference record with those 3 teams. Yet, they are the 6 seed. -
Week 12: Steelers @ Bengals Game Thread

The reality is this season was never going to be a SB year. The defense doesn't have it and they weren't going to get past KC, or maybe other teams for that matter. Regroup for next season. See what you have in the rookies. Spoil some other team's playoff hopes. And see if Zac Taylor can win without Burrow. There's stuff to watch here. I hope. -
Week 11: Bengals @ Ravens Game Thread

Really interesting game. Will likely be the turning point in the season. I can't see the Bengals winning the division if they lose tonight. If they win tonight, I think they win the next 5 in a row to go into KC at 11-4 and win the AFCN. Burrow and Chase have to go off tonight for them to win. Mixon needs to be getting key yards. The defense can't be a sieve tonight like last week. I think they win. 24-20. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton

Kuntz would be interesting. I think the Bengals really like Irv Smith and Drew Sample. It’s likely they could fill out the TE room with a UFA or a cutdown addition. At this point I don’t see how they don’t stick to their formula of best athlete/high character for BPA. -
Bengals are really targeting guys who are athletic and team leaders. I love it.

Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue

Offense today. Round 4 will be RB, TE, or OL. Lol. I think that covers it. -
I don’t think we’re used to the impact that Joe Burrow has. If he’s elite, and he is, he can turn avg TEs and WRs into impact players. The running game doesn’t need to be top tier. If the Bengals continue to draft line and defense heavy for the next 10 years they are going to be consistently a top 5 team.

DJ Turner, punt returner.

Round 3 (95): Jordan Battle, S Alabama

I guess we're seeing now where the Bengals think they can make the most difference. Pass rush and pass coverage. Also noticing the type of players they are taking. Smart, tough, good against the run. Same goes for the FA additions to the secondary. They definitely have a plan. -
Round 3 (95): Jordan Battle, S Alabama
cincyhokie replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Per CBS Sports: Summary: Jordan Battle is an intelligent, effective communicator with ample playing experience for the Crimson Tide. He has been a consistent producer for four years, showing range and coverage ability. Battle can do a better job of breaking his feet down in space to make a balanced tackle at the point of contact. His value lies with his understanding of what offenses are trying to do and his ability to communicate that during an era of football where teams are attempting to create confusion through traffic and crossing patterns. Strengths: Consistent producer with significant playing experience Good size for the position Aggressive with the ball in the air Good communicator, trash talker Weaknesses: Inconsistent breaking his feet down at the point of contact Average burst and top-end speed Play strength Combine Results: 40-Yard Dash: 4.55 seconds -

Roshawn Johnson for the Bengals. That's the pick. -

Steelers have to take Adebewore, right? -

Adding picks where they can. Might be a good idea seeing they need a punter, OL depth, and you can always find a decent RB in late rounds. -

Karl Brooks, DL. Another one that might fit a need. -

Also there's the Adebewore guy from NW. -

Dewand Jones would be great there. I'm also thinking the Bengals like the Irv Smith, Drew Sample TE team better than any of us do. -

I'm thinking RB if Johnson is there. -
Day 2 I think they're looking defense again. DL, CB. TE, RB, OL, will have to wait until 3rd and 4th rounds.

Round 1 (28): Myles Murphy, DE Clemson
cincyhokie replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Love the pick. -
Our pass rush last year was a half gassed Hendrickson, Hubbard, and an improving Ossai. I don't know how anyone couldn't like this pick.
-
Can't have enough pass rush or pass protection. Good pick with great value.
-
Hate to see Mayer go to KC.
-
Watch the Steelers still get Porter Jr. at #32.

Myles Murphy? Porter Jr.? Brian Branch? In that order.
