Another Greg Cook type scenario in the making? Time will tell. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2024/5/10/24153271/joe-burrow-wrist-injury-inflammation-orthopedic-surgeon-bengals-qb

Week 5: Bengals @ Cardinals Game Thread
gregcook68 replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I’ve been rooting for this franchise since 1968 and my only conclusion is, that it’s ’snake bit’! PERIOD! They draft the best QB in college football, then the injury. The next spring training recovering from the injury. The next spring training appendectomy recovery. This spring strained calf! Yes, things got much better when MB turned most everything over to Katie! I really thought that FINALLY the snake has stopped biting in the 2021 season and they would FINALLY have a Lombardi at Paycor! Then came the phantom holding call on Logan Wilson! In spite of the calf strain, there was talk of this being possibly the deepest and best lineup in franchise history. They avoided ‘life support’ with a win on Monday night thanks to Shayne Graham’s heads up to Darren Simmons about McPherson in between the 2020 and 2021 seasons. A loss tomorrow will put them on life support and another L next Sunday at Paycor will pull the plug on the season! I was hoping to see a Lombardi at Paycor before I go to The House, but time is running out as I turned 70 on Tuesday. Before anyone whines about Negative Nancy or go follow a band wagon team, I will ALWAYS root for them, and my opinion/outlook of this team has absolutely no bearing on the direction this franchise goes! -
On the attempted TD to Hurst, I thought if the defender doesn’t turn around and contact is made it’s PI? Loved the phantom PI called on Hilton! Reminded of the phantom holding call on Wilson last year SB!

Report: Bengals Plan to PayJoe This Offseason

Looks like I’m not the only one who thinks maybe Burrow might go Brady like contractually! -

Sidebar, so to speak, at the money these guys make I truly GET and AGREE with Brady’s philosophy and I think it is quite a smart move, keeping a good group around him for those years! For me, the way Brady’s smug-like personality/ego is, I never thought he’d be the one to choose the contract philosophy he did!? Also, I have to say, on one hand, I’m surprised that more players haven’t followed suit with Brady’s philosophy, especially seeing how beneficial it’s been for him! On the other hand I can see, not understand, but see how these run away egos are prevalent for all the other prima donnas. I can remember, back in the day, when football AND baseball players had to have other jobs in the off season to make ends meet! I don’t agree with that end of the perspective but it’s gone from one end of the spectrum to another! Burrow has said that he currently lives on his endorsements and banks his checks, so he may just surprise everyone and take the Brady approach to stay in Cincy and let Katie orchestrate a team around him. -
They also benefited for years from an anemic division.

I think IF Awuzie is able to go Apple will be gone and Britt-Taylor will play in his spot.

Burrow said he wants to retire here, Chase and Karras want to stay as well! Do you think Burrow will consider a Brady-like approach with his contract? With the cap can the keep Burrow, Chase and Higgins without it? Realistically? Do you think MB will let Katie handle contracts this year? -
Damar wakes up and sees he’s in ICU, with tubes and needles, can’t talk BECAUSE of tubes, asks for paper and pencil and writes, “Did we win?” NOT “What happened?” “What’s my condition?” THAT speaks Volumes!!!

Hubbard and Hurst key to keep streak alive Monday night?
-
It's time to beat the TEAM UP NORTH next week!!!! WAY overdue!!
-
Tie breaker favors Bengals because we beat them.
-
Speaking of the Browns game, according to the box score they scored 27 points and NONE of those points scored by the offense! All the points were scored by the defense and special teams!!
-
Nice mouth.

I'm confused. So the website is right? He can ONLY be elevated 3 times a season. This is his 3rd time. So he goes back to the practice squad Monday and has to STAY there the remainder and Huber punts/holds the remainder??
-
The 'rule', according to current research, says the third time up from PS team has to add them to the 53 man roster, so the Bengals writers must have it wrong on the website. That being said, the way I see it they have 2 choices. Release Huber OR carry 2 punters on the 53 man roster for the last 6 games wasting a spot, in my opinion. My gut says they will carry 2 punters for 6 games making Huber inactive each week.
-
Well, either Bengals writers are clueless, the forum is clueless, or they changed the rules, because the quote below, from the website, says he goes back to the practice squad on Monday. My money says the Bengals writers are clueless. The Bengals today elevated P Drue Chrisman from the practice squad to the active roster for tomorrow's game against Kansas City. Chrisman is classified as a standard elevation. As a practice squad player being elevated to the active roster for the game, he automatically will revert to the practice squad on Monday.

Beating the Chiefs 3 straight times is a high hurdle for sure. IF, they DO win, does it set the tone the for the last 5 games, or does it lead to an emotional overconfident let down, having beaten the best team in the AFC 3 times in a row?
-
Worry? Not hardly. They're going to do what they're going to do from A to Z but we still have expert opinion analysis on all the rest. What's the difference with this subject?
-
Let's get back to the loyalty issue which is what I was referring to with MB. He wants to be loyal to Huber which is why I don't see him releasing him until the season is over, either keeping 2 punters or keeping Chrisman down for the remainder, regardless of the cost. For all the rest of the 31 teams this is a business not a family fest. I don't like the fact that pro sports have gone from players having to get jobs in the off season to make ends meet, to becoming overpaid prima donna millionaires, but it is what it is.
-
If MB has the last word TJ, I'm betting (figuratively) that Chrisman either stays down on PS for the next 6+ games, OR they carry 2 punters on the 53 for the next 6+ games! Hoping I'm wrong, but, in my opinion, the only reason the Bengals are doing as well as they are is because MB has given his daughter more 'chain' than he EVER has! MB has been a terrible owner and with a small football mind. His daughter has proven herself with more football moxie than her papa ever had!
-
My gut says he stays down and they hold their breath someone doesn't offer him the moon now that they've seen him in the spotlight.
-
I agree with TJ. Money talks. Say for example, the Cardinals want to release their 40 year old punter, and have now SEEN Chrisman on the big stage, they could just up the Bengals offer and sign him. I think any kind of loyalty is probably out the window outside the Bengals franchise. I don't agree or like it, but it's a big time revenue business now. As arrogant and condescending as he is, Brady is the only one I know of who hasn't been about being the highest paid QB, and comparing contracts, because he wants surrounded by good players.
-
What about, like HC and I alluded to, keeping Chrisman on the roster and releasing Huber now?
