I'm in the opposite spot. EVERYONE is getting snow except us. Seriously...it's like there's a magic bubble surrounding Nashville.
During the big snow last week you could look at the map and there was a literal circle around Nashville while everyone else in TN was covered in snow. It even snowed in Georgia and Florida for crying out loud!
I have a 3 year old who has never had the pleasure of playing in the snow and it's killing me.

I seem to be one of the few fans around here, but I thought I'd start this all the same.
Anyone else notice that they've marched all the way up to a #7 ranking?
This team has their faults, for sure, and they're easy to pick out. Still, they are a LOT of fun to watch. Justin Jackson deserves a shot at the pro level. He's got Dennis Rodman written all over him. In a good way, I mean.

The stripes on either side look pink.
Good, I'm not crazy because that was my first thought too. Blech.
Still sucks, but I actually think it's a very slight improvement. At least they got rid of the inexplicable neon green from the last design.
Very seriously, though, the site looks (and always has looked) like it was made by an amateur.

Interesting review of the first round from 2013. Gio would have gone to the Packers at 26 since PIttsburgh would take Lacy earlier. We would have taken TE Jordan Reed from Florida at 21. Eifert would drop out of the first round.
Haha, whatever. We would still take Eifert, and get him for a steal in the 2nd round.

Reedy throws out Aaron Murray's name:
Yeah, it's been thrown around a lot. Honestly, I would LOVE this pick.
And, for the record, I'm completely on board with Andy. It'd just be nice to feel good about our backup QB spot for once.

Sorry I missed your birthday Hoosier. Hope you had a good one.
If by "a good one" you mean having to field multiple emails and docs from my boss who decided late Friday that an emergency project absolutely had to be finished by 10 am Tuesday so you spent the weekend AND the Monday holiday working on putting together a bunch of stuff you had ALREADY put together multiple times just in yet another different way so he could go give it to the same people he gave everything to before so they could ignore it yet one more time, then yeah I had a good one.
And people ask me why I drink...
Sounds like a Dilbert cartoon...

Yes, I'll be pulling pretty hard for the Broncos in this one.
I do appreciate how passionate Sherman is, but a little humility would go a long way.
-
Wow, you are so OLD.
Happy Birthday, Gramps!

They're in a good state.

The Hair has spoken. Mel has the Bengals taking Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State. Per Coley, Kiper has Dennard being just the second CB off the board. He has Gilbert going to the Lions at 10.
I'd be fine with that.
-
I said in the other thread give me Jim S. the ex lions coach as a LB coach. He was Marvin LB coach in Baltimore, and they are good friends. I think he would do well with that group.
That would be quite a steal...

And, it is now official according to multiple sources.
Good news!
Someone that knows the system and already has a strong relationship established with the players.
Gotta give credit to the Bengals organization. They have depth with coaches as well as players and it's paying off. Some seriously good long-term planning going on here...

For what it's worth, Albert Breer said to look for the Bengals to promote Geunther and to do it quickly. Skins and Vikes are both interested in him.
This would be the best possible news at this point as far as I can tell. I've already seen tweets from Dunlap and Iloka endorsing him.

I'm really torn here. Obviously, I want him back in Cincy. Badly.
But, if he doesn't get the job, I'm going to be pretty angry on his behalf. The guy deserves a chance and I can't imagine what it's like for him to be turned down year after year.
-
Will be interesting to watch. You don't have to get an OL in the first. There should be plenty of guys there in the 2nd who can come in and produce.
And, of course, it all depends on whether or not we get a guy in FA.

Well, my comments on signing Alex Mack got lost.
If Hue wants to improve the run game and protect Dalton, he HAS to improve the center position. Sure getting a new RB to add to the mix will help. I agree. However, the most glaring need, IMO, is center.
Maybe signing a perennial Pro-Bowl center is a stretch. But, if any Bengals team could benefit significantly from a missing piece it is this one. Alex Mack wouldn't just improve the O-line. I think he'd improve the whole team. The ripple effect from a dominant O-line would make this team much, much, more likely to contend next season.
Put your money where your mouth is, Hue. Make a move.
If they, indeed, end up letting MJ go this offseason (which I don't see as a sure thing like others do), then they'd certainly have the coin to do it.
I put Center/CB at equal priority this offseason. #1a and #1b, for sure.
-
Our RB duo is fine. It's the o-line that needs attention.
McFadden would be nice insurance to have, but he won't agree to be anyone's insurance policy.
-
I said this elsewhere but it bears repeating: coaches in Cincy who say they want to run the ball have been lying liars who lie. Despite repeated assurances from Marvin Lewis on down, there has been no commitment to the run in Cincy whatsoever. Doesn't matter who the OC or QB or RB is, the operative strategy has been, "bombs away!" The one, one, single, sole, solitary time that they were forced into featuring the run, due to a total breakdown in the passing game, was 2009. And it got them to the playoffs. And they couldn't get back to "bombs away!" in 2010 fast enough.
So I applaud Hue. I hope he means it. But I'm not holding my breath.
I get it, but at least there's a track record this time.
We shall see.

Per Reedy, Bengals have promoted Kyle Caskey (formerly the offensive line/quality control coach) to RB coach.
*shrug*
The title "quality control coach" is more than a little humorous to me.

Yesterday's news. Who are we going to get for your new DC, assuming Zim goes? I'm ok with Hue as OC, I am not ok with anyone currently on the staff as DC. I will be Hoosier-like in my disdain for a quick inside hire if it is done on the defensive side of the ball.
I would be okay with Geunther if we hire from within, but that doesn't seem likely.
Ray Horton and Jim Schwartz are probably my top two outside guys, but it'd be interesting to see who all would be considered.
-
Lap said a ton of offensive coaches around the NFL called #Bengals expressing interest in OC job, "they know the weapons here"
Why, you'd almost think that Bengals fans and the media were...wrong. But that can't be, right?
Wrong? Surely not. 11-5 teams are clearly teams you want to avoid. Teams with no future. Teams destined for failure.
-
If Zimmer goes, sounds like management will likely choose Guenther or Schwartz. Based upon their logic that they'd prefer to keep it in house, probably Guenther.
Opinions?
On Monday night Lap speculated that Guenther might go with Zim to be his DC.
Not a fan of Schwartz but only know him for the looney stuff that happened while he was in Detroit.
This might be a stretch but what about DB coach Mark Carrier?
Schwartz was a very solid DC in Tennessee. I think he'd be fine with a clearly defined role (a.k.a. not being the man determining roles for others).

I'd just be happy with a little balance. Is that too much to ask? This team always seems so damn one dimensional on offense. Either they run 70% of the time, or they pass it 70% of the time.
We had several games this season with good balance.
But, Gruden simply seemed too reactionary. Instead of developing a gameplan and seeing it through, it seemed like he was willing to scrap the whole thing and go in a completely new direction at the first sign of trouble. Adjustments are necessary, sure, but he tended to go overboard.
I think he lost his head multiple times as a play-caller and it cost us. Badly.

Growing up, my dentist was a Xavier fan. We had some intense debates, but since I could hardly talk with him working on my mouth, the discussion tended to be pretty lopsided
