No news at all. I'm willing to bet that he'll be gone after this season, though...
-
I was wondering if I would see this news when I turned my computer on this morning...
Looks like it'll save us roughly a million dollars on this year's cap, right?
-
Ok, if this doesn't get done...
I know they can't discuss a long term deal for quite a while. Are they allowed to trade him during this time? I would assume so, but I'm not 100% on it...
-
I'm glad they aren't willing to overpay...

Here's a bit from bengals.com:

This is the funniest site I've run across in quite a while. Type in anything to search for, and it works like a search engine. When the site comes up click on Translate, and it turns everything on that site into ghettospeak...
Here's what came up for bengalszone: http://sites.gizoogle.com/?url=http://foru...dex.php?act=idx

Be carefull what you ask for, You may find that in time you would be talking Bengls football by yourself, and I'd hate it if I pissed myself off
Good thought boomer...

There is no ignore feature for this version of Invision, unfortunately.
The good news, though, is that B24 plans to upgrade the site sometime in the future, and the ignore feature is included in the updated version. I agree with you that some posts just aren't worth the time...

I will give Mikie some credit for his part in this signing, but I believe Marvin truly was the driving force to see the opportunity, and then make it happen! :player:
Alright Billy...
Next time something bad happens, I don't want to see you automatically assign the blame to Mike Brown!
Nothing personal directed at you...I just hate seeing people blame Mike Brown for every bad thing, and then turn around and praise Marvin for all that is good.

I'm happy to see this as well. Good move.
Don't get too excited, though. This guy is hardly a dominant force. Just an improvement over what we currently have. I'm hopeful that Askew will be able to take over the starting role by the end of the year, or the start of next season...

I don't see this happening at all. They're more likely to make his final game against one of Green Bay's rival teams...the Bengals don't fall into that category.
-
I thought Marvin said no comment to the Weathersby situation.
The Dayton paper reported that on their own, I believe.
I doubt the Dayton paper would make up a story like that out of the clear blue sky. Far more likely is Marvin felt that at some point during that evening he was speaking off the record when the original remarks were made and now refuses to comment further.
Oh, I don't think that they made it up. I just thought they got the info from another source.
Anyway, not important...not sure why I even brought that up, haha.

You may be on to something, but we've been hearing alot of medical related news of late....including Marvin picking this week to mention the news about Weathersby. Perhaps he's simply taken the pulse of his team and determined that it's time to for some players to hear the hard truth.

I liked him, but with all of his injuries I think this is a smart move...
Saves us $700,000 in cap room.

Isn't he old?

Looks like this guy is coming for a visit. What do you guys think?
-
The article said they see him playing on the outside, although he could move to the inside if needed.
-
There's an article on bengals.com this morning about how Sharper is interested in playing for Marvin again.
Another one of those, too good to actually happen stories, but it's the first new thing I've seen on bengals.com in a few days, so I got excited

We already have a thread for all the free agency complainers. Feel free to go gripe about it over there.
-
Even if the lbs we look at are good fits in a 3-4 scheme, I don't think that's why Marvin would go after them. If you have a linebacker that can play the 3-4, shouldn't they also have no problem in a 4-3? Knowing Marvin, I would guess he's looking for good players, period.
-
Yeah...the teams signing these big-name FAs are doing so out of desperation. I don't think the Bengals are in a spot that they need to feel desperate for a boost from the outside. Just keep doing what they've been doing the past two years. We're getting close.
-
That really sucks...poor guy.
-
Samari can't touch Chad. No worries here.
-
My take:
The Bengals won't trade Rudi. He's here for one year. They also won't sign him long-term yet. If Perry comes on strong this year, then he's gone. If not, then they'll get a long-term deal done either next offseason or during this season. Unless of course, Rudi insists on testing the market.
Chris Perry?

Well, sure, but if he shows promise this year, and knows he can get a deal elsewhere?
I would see him sitting out and demanding to be released or traded. I just have a hard time seeing a 1st round person being satisfied as a backup for 4 years.
Now, as for the Bengals...then yeah...you'd want him to play backup for 4 years without a hitch. That'd be ideal. I just don't see it happening.
Of course, if he doesn't show much, keeps having injury problems, etc., then I guess he'll be grateful for the deal he currently has...
