Much better attitude fellas. Seen the game first hand last night. Total Domination. They couldnt stop us if they wanted to. I'm only counting the first half since they played their starters against our wannabe's in the second half. This game is a truer indication of what we can expect. Our boys came to play and I loved every minute of it. Best parts were squashing, smashing and knocking back CD and the fumble just icing on the cake. Get on board neh sayers, the train is leaving the station.

Dudes. One preseason game and your ready to throw in the towel? Player for player this is a better team than last year. There is no reason Palmer cant be successful and an upgrade. You guys are giving Kitna way too much credit. Maybe you missed the wide open TD pass that he jacked up. Dont blame TJ, that pass was typical JK. I'm forever the optimist and a fan as I know you all are. The Bengals are like your kids. You dont lovem cuz their good, you lovem cuz their yours. (stole that from ESPN). Let the preseason play itself out. Let these young guys get their legs underneath them. I say we win the division and become a dominant team in the near future.

I just got my season tix on Saturday July 30th. Dont sweat any bullets, I'm sure you will receive your tix shortly.

I dont think anyone is untouchable at this point. Wilson and Lidle on the last year of their contract are no brainers assuming anyone would want Lidle at this point. Griffey and Kearns coming off injury are probably not too desirable by a contender. Im sure Dunn and even Willy Mo would draw interest from a power perspective. Take Graves please along with his 6 mil salary. Im not advocating giving away nothing. Any deal would have to benefit us more than what we loose. I still say we have a small chance to turn things around with Kearns and Griffey back in the lineup but very small. Lets not shoot ourselves in the foot here. We hardly have any talent on the bench so I see no spare parts besides maybe Willy Mo/Kearns. Only way we get better is opening up the purse strings and I dont see that happening. Gotta love the effort these guys put forth and Miley playing the hand he's dealt. In the end, money buys wins. Just look at the contenders.

I vote for smart move. Not a fan of the big K. Guess since I watch all the Bengals games, he is the QB I've seen the most. Some surprising passes but also flub ups. I dont believe I have seen respectable QB choke the way I have seen Kitna choke. Just my opinion on the K.
Im sure you guys have heard it before. How can Palmer get experience unless he plays. We have to bite the bullet at some point. Might as well be now. I like that Carson knows he's the man and he will get all the reps and support to give him a chance to succeed.
Not sure I like K as a safety net. I dont want Carson looking over his shoulder. I also dont think it takes any pressure off of Carson but rather puts pressure on him to have K around. But the K is here to stay apparently and after all, ML knows best.

Definately better than I expected. The stats blow but somehow we got the wins. Makes you think W-L will catch up with the stats. Injuries are starting to be a factor. You have to figure we would have won a few more games with casey in the lineup. You can almost feel the boat tipping over. We need to get everyone healthy and I think we have as good as shot as anyone getting the wild card. We have to prove that we can compete with the cards or its pretty much a moot point.

I think Perry will kick butt. Hopefully his tweak to his hammy is not a symptom of the K*j*na disease. (Not going to put his name in print here.). We need Perry to kick butt and I believe he will get opportunities. Two reasons: Ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and Rudi's contract. ML is not about to be extorted by any one player. ML doesnt seem to like putting his eggs (salary cap) in one basket. If Rudi has the year we are all hoping for and demands a rediculous salary, ML will wish him well, draft another RB in the 3-4 round and hand the ball over to Perry. As mentioned already in this thread, we can yell PERRY! PERRY! PERRY! just as well as RUDI! RUDI! RUDI!. Nothing personal, its a game, its a business.

Hardest thing about being a fan is going from the kickass days of the 80's to getting our asses handed to us each week. Getting your hopes up year after year to only be absolutely dejected by week six. Lewis offered another ray of hope and you have no choice but to cling to it. As in each year, I have hope again. Welcome BACK to the jungle!! (My favorite tune during the games)

Our team is better than they were last year. I havnt compared schedules but we should win our division and I think 9 wins will accomplish that.

Trading Henry would make as much sense as the Bengals trading Rudi. Cant see that happening. RB's seem to make an easy transition into the NFL, at least more so than WR but why take the chance when you dont have to. Rudi is cheap this year, and a very good back so I say keep him. I cant see Rudi here next year though unless he signs for a very very reasonable rate. Then again the Raiders do have a man named woodsen. Personally, I hope the Raiders choke on not having a RB.

Interesting how these rumors get started. Remember the Dillon going to New England a couple of days before it happened? I can still see how ML would be uncomfortable at CB. What if James or Deltha got hurt? We would be in a world of hurt. PW is as much expendable as any other player we have especially with the return skills of Patrick Johnson. Not sure how the cap space would trade out and the value seems about right. I could see something like this happening.

Wagner has been the biggest dissapointment. I thought that dude was going to be unhittable. He is throwing meatballs up there. Got to hope my man gets it togeather. Bring back the nasty boys
-
Larson has had enough chances to play in the majors. The guy just chokes for some reason. The guy will probably come along at some point if he can get his confidence but I would prefer that we were not the ones nursing him along. Line drive bases loaded no outs, two muffed fielding plays and a crucial strikeout on Wednesday. Dude my patience is spent.

For where we picked them, I like Askew, Andrews and Williams. I think Perry will contribute but I dont like him at #1.
-
Dont know if you guys got to see Ratliff on TV but the guy was genuinely excited about being a Bengal. Got to love that attitude
-
I take him in the first round to .....back up? Either it's an insurance pick, or a "mikey" pick to force Rudi's contract situation plain and simple.
I agree (doesnt mean too much since I have the football knowledge of someone's girlfriend). The pick in the first round doesnt jive unless ML just doesnt see Rudi as the long term solution. I'm still grappling with this one.
-
Just for clarification, in no way am I advocating getting rid of Rudi this year. Rudi will sign the one year deal and we will be glad to have him. However, when Rudi pans out to be the stud we think he his, he could demand a lot more jack next year. That's where Perry comes in. I cant see ML shelling out big bucks next year to keep Rudi with Perry as an option. I'm sure this makes a little more sense. Sometimes writing doesnt come out as intended.

A day has gone by to soak this thing up. I had us taking Perry in the second round so naturally I was dissapointed that we used a first round pick on him. Perry must have been the Bengals #1 priority since they made no attempt to move up for anyone else so I will give them credit for getting an extra pick and Perry. Parcells passed on Jackson and they need a RB a lot more than we do so I will give ML the benefit of the doubt. Also, I dont believe that Perry would have been there with the second pick as I had hoped for so they did the right thing assuming they wanted Perry. As I mentioned before, I think we will have an awesome backfield this season but when it comes to pay Rudi next season, I cant see us wanting to pay what he will be worth but maybe we will get lucky and Rudi will want to stay with the champion Bengals and settle for less.
Apparently Ratliff was also the Bengals choice as CB and given the Eagles tried to move up and get Ratliff I will also give ML the benefit of the doubt here as well. Originally, I thought we could have gotten him later but that may not be the case.
Only real surprise was the center/guard situation but apparently ML would have taken one with the second pick in Grove, Smiley but they were gone so they were on the right track. Only thing I have to assume is that no other center was worth the pick so it will mean a top priority next season in the draft or free agency. Not too late so Im not worried about it.
QB is way down the road for us so any body will do for now. Unfortunately for us, once Palmer becomes the role model for QB's we may not be able to afford his next contract. No way I want the Bengals to have a manning like contract at QB. Takes away too many other options so I expect we will address that in the future.
I hope andrews pans out at OL as a nice backup for us but hard to imagine that for this year. Pray for no injuries to the line.
I think the D looks in good shape. Have to start figuring who will make it and who will be gone.
Thats me out!!
-
I think Perry will be a nice back but a first round backup? No way! Tells me this will be the last year for Rudi regardless. How can we leave a first rounder on the bench. Didnt work for Palmer, wont work for Perry. We cant pay two guys starting pay. We love ya Rudi but ya gots to go.
-
I'm not complaining about who the Bengals took but when they took them. You have to be aware of where guys will fall. That part, I dont think they did well. Its fine to target a guy but get him in the right spot. I havnt seen how the draft unfolded today so I cant say too much about 4-7.

Thanks Joisey!!

I had to go do yard work after the second pick to calm down. Have to believe that dude would have been there in the fourth. Cost them Courtney Watson for sure. I have been stunned thus far.
-
My gut tells me the Bengals really want Gamble. From listening to ML on channel five last night, he may even be willing to move up a few spots. There are so many possibilities with teams moving around that it is almost impossible to predict but it is fun trying to.

Here's my guess on what will happen:
1. Chris Gamble CB
2. Dwan Edwards DT
2b.Chris Perry RB
3. Courtney Watson LB
3b. Alex Steponovich C
4. Madieu Williams S
4b. Bo Schobel DE
5. Stephen Peterson G
6. Sean Bubin OT
7. Uyi Usumde DE

Been a while but I'm getting draft fever again. keep in mind that this game is all about salary cap. We have limited resources. It's not about being cheap its about getting the biggest bang for the buck. Marvin will allocate the dollars for biggest benefit. I'm sure he has a value in mind for TJ and Rudi and if they exceed that value he is not going to bring them back.
Kitna is way over paid for a backup QB. If we have to depend on him, we are done anyway. If we can move him, I say move him.
Hardy, haven't seen much from him and we have some pretty good rookies with a year under their belts. I think the LB's will be much better this year so again with the bang for buck...if Hardy's not worth it, cut em.
