  1. All in all, I'm very happy with our LB depth. Yeah, some people look at it as "swinging for the fences, and only coming up with foul balls so far", but I think that it's less of a concern that Pollack is injured as we have capable players to fill his role.

My big concern is the lack of safety depth, and the huge drop off in our defensive solidity with D Jax hurt. I like Kaes as a guy to come in for a play here and a play there to give the starters a breather, but for him to play the whole game makes me very worried about our defense for the next few games. Hopefully its just two games and the bye, and D Jax is back...time will tell.

  2. A message to all Bengals fans in the Cleveland area...

Let's try to get a good number at one place to watch Bengals games on Sundays this season so we can get our games on a bigger screen tv and enjoy the game without as many Pittsturd and Cleveland fans around.

    Any suggestions for places?

My friends and I will probably be going to Panini's on Mayfield near Rt 271 this Sunday. I've never been there, so I hope its got a good layout.

But if the tv's suck, there are good tv's at a nearby Fox and Hound...the problem is they have so many Pitt fans they usually play the Pitt game on the best big screen that has a bunch of surrounding tv's with other games. We would really have to have good numbers and get there early to take over that place.

    Thoughts??

    WHO-DEY!!!!!

  3. Yeah, that was reported on ESPN yesterday, but we already knew that Winslow has a big mouth. He also said that when 90% healthy he's better than any other tight end in the league. I wouldn't make much of it. It will be interesting to see how Bodden does though, because I do remember him doing a pretty good job against Chad last yr. Of course, Chad intimated that his lack of productivity was more due to a swirling wind that day than Bodden's actual plays. Last yr, Chad gave Bodden credit...although he apparently called him "Lehigh Bowden" when he gave him props. I also think its hilarious that Marshall Faulk kept saying he had never heard of Bodden and couldn't find any info on him before the show.

    :lmao:

  4. I live in Cleveland and I must say I'm a little surprised. I mean, there are stupid fans of every team who do things like this, but I go to different bars every week to watch games and always see Browns fans. Generally they are very tolerable and some even will say they are pulling for us to do better since they know how it feels to be stuck at the bottom of the barrel...and I, in turn, usually tell them that I don't mind the Browns winning when its not against us and I especially root for them to beat the Stoolers and Ratbirds. All in all, I have way more trouble with stupid loud Stooler fans who seem to want to get in your face every week. Especially since most bars have more Steeler fans than Browns fans in them anyway.

I guess its interesting to note that as the Browns fans think their team is getting better, they are becoming more obnoxious. We would do well to take away the message from this that even thogh we are now a good team, we fans do not need to be assh**es to other fans...except Steeler fans. :P

  5. I don't really understand why there is so much "controversy" over this hit. All you have to do is look at the replay to see that:

    A) There was NO helmet to helmet, just a shoulder to chest which with momentum became shoulder to head;

    B) Green slid WAY too late and had to expect he would get hit trying to make that first down marker(which incidentally he has done in the past and taken the hit);

    C) Geathers was already diving into Green when Green began his slide - the "block" from Kennison may have slightly altered his trajectory, but not too significantly IMO and there was no way he was going to avoid the hit whether or not he wanted to; and

D)when a QB scrambles, EVERY team is told to get a good hit on him if he doesn't slide to make him pay for running with the ball...this is standard and plenty of QB's have been hit while scrambling.

Yes, it is very unfortunate that in getting hit so hard, Green's head hit the ground and he got concussed, but it's his fault for getting close enough to defenders to get hit before deciding to slide. The concussion was not directly due to Geather's shoulder, it was due to his head bouncing off the turf.

And as for Geathers "celebration", what defender doesn't get up talking sh*t after making a big hit? That's all that was.

And for all the Steeler fans who insist on bringing up the past, one big difference b/w the 2 hits is that Green was scrambling and put himself in a dangerous situation whereas Carson was in the pocket and had no opportunity to avoid it himself. Now before you get your panties in a twist, I'm not saying that I think the Kimo hit was dirty...it was and is a part of this game. I do think that Kimo had more of an ability to avoid the hit, but I wouldn't expect him to because you don't just turn on and off the football instincts in these split second situations. If players second guess like that, then 9 times out of 10 they get burned.

I hope Green is able to return to full strength this yr and I do hope he is able to successfully lead the Chiefs this season. Concussions happen a lot, and I'm confident he return fine. He just needs time for his bruised brain to heal.

  6. I didn't vote.

Here's why, there's a third option these days if you go to the right store. It usually runs you 100-120 bucks. It looks as authentic as it gets. the numbers are made of material and are sewn on, but each layer isn't sewn on like an authentic. If you go on ebay and look up bengals EQT jersey, you should find something. It's legit reebok and everything, just a third style of jersey!

Recently, I scored a Roange Chad jersey in this style from ebay and must say I'm one of the luckiest bastards alive!

    WHO DEY

This is by far the best "bang for your buck" jersey on the market.

So with jerseys, there are 3 types:

Replica = cheap and not worth it - $65-75

Replithentic = in between the other two, and definitely worth the value - $90-110

Authentic = quality but expensive and not worth it IMO - $300+

This "in between" option is definitely worth it as West Coast Bengal notes. I own a replica CJ jersey, and I bought a replithentic orange CP jersey online and its great. If you google replithentic bengals jersey, or with the plaer's name you want, sites will pop up. I got mine off Fans Edge.

  7. Sorry Derek, but I got to disagree about Odell being a bit over rated the dude was a ROOKIE & had 46 more tackles than the second leading tackler on the team + 5 picks that's unbelievable

Meh... he played MLB in the 4-3. It is the easiest defensive position to compile stats with in the history of the NFL. Landon Johnson led the team in tackles the year before, and didn't even start the entire year. It's a very deceiving stat.

He's a very good player... plays with a lot of energy and confidence, so that bodes well for him to be very good eventually, but I don't think he's there yet. He makes a lot of mistakes, and being the leading tackler doesn't make up for all the big plays that were given up because he was in the wrong place. Maybe he'll be better now that he has a year under his belt, and 4 games to do nothing but study the system... but I'm not going to say he's the second coming of LT, or even Ray Lewis yet.

Good point the MLB will have alot of tackles when all is said & done but I bet he made more big plays than he gave up. Of course he made mistakes, he was a rookie thrown into the fire from the get go. If I told you right now Brooks will have 148 tackles, 5 ints. , 4 forced fumbles you would'nt take it & say that is a great year for a rook? I'm not saying he's the greatest ever just that he deserved the praise he has gotten & don't feel he's overrated at all he's a play maker w/ a ton of potential.

Last year, as I said before, people was saying he should be considered for DOY now he screwed up some act like we don't need him & won't miss him. Maybe it because we haven't seen him this preseason & forgot what he brings to the team ? It seems some ( myself included) changed their opinions about what to do with Henry once he got back on the field & making plays.

If he's getting tested several times a week he has no choice but to clean up if not he'll be right up there with Ricky Willliams & Clarrett. Sounds like he is on the right path now & hopefully stays the course.

I agree with you Jonboat. People have short memories for the positive, and unfortunately as Odell will learn, they have long memories for the negative. Some people truly seem to need to dwell on the negative stuff, and this holds true on a daily basis on this board. And I'm not saying that everything should always be all roses, but give the guy a small amount of credit for owning up to his mistakes.

This violation stuff will follow Odell around for quite awhile, and the only thing that will hasten this stuff to fade into the background is if and when Odell returns and shows his worth on the field. And I for one choose to look at his interview as a step in the right direction. I hope Marvin stay on his butt and doesn't let him regress because he can be a huge asset to this team.

    WHODEY!

  8. Great read. It really gives you insight to where he came from, and where his mindset is at present. I'm glad to see that he can acknowledge that he is at fault here, and is not just feeling like he is a victim(as many concrete thinking self-absorbed athletes can react). It sounds like he is taking the steps he needs to to get back on the field, and hopefully this was his last transgression. Very encouraging, I think. Looking forward to him making plays. WHODEY!

  9. I've never even heard of those other sites...

The only other one I heard of is Eye of the Tiger, which is not bad. The guy does decent write-ups on the latest news with the Bengals, and gives his take. It is, of course, nowhere near as good as this one though. Right now, Bengalszone winning with 100% of the vote.

  10. Deleted again!

Big Sam isnt going to get bullied out there. They cant throw to the TE with M. Williams and Dexter back there. If they cant run are throw to the TE. Bens going to have to win the game for them in a Shoot out. Alot chances to pound the hell out of him. This guy couldnt find his ass with two hands. He is going to get killed.

The simple fact is that we are a better team than they are. We were last year and they cheap shoted us. Wether it was Kimo being to overly agressive is the real ?, or Cowher was feeling the pressure and knew he needed it to get by Palmer to get to the superbowl. They knew they were good enough to beat the rest of the AFC. Totally classless.

Jeez...settle down there sparky. Yeah, Kimo injured Carson last yr and it ended our season in the worst possible way, but wishing for a career-ending injury on any player(clean hit or not) is just completely classless. It's not like Ben did anything himself to Carson. This is a new season with new hopes...let the past go. There's nothing productive in dwelling on it.

Time to move on and kick some ass this yr. Hit them where it hurts, in the Loss column. I would much rather sweep the Steelers this yr than lose to them and have Ben go out with an injury. As I see it, I want us to beat the Stealers such that their obnoxious fans have no excuses. I don't want them using the same excuses we gave them after our playoff loss(even though I do agree that we were extremely likely to win that game with Palmer).

Enough with the negativity already...last night was frickin great. We're lookin to have a great yr.

    WHO-DEY!!! :bengal:
