I think that an argument can be made for the Bengals right now, but lets clinch a playoff berth first, before we begin the SuperBowl discussion, even if I am Blind Homer #3.
But I like the direction, A LOT!

We give Great Thanks to You for your blessing upon us and for our deliverance. Again we humbly ask You for Your Gracious Favor, Oh, <insert deity of your choice here>, to grant us our prayers for…
A Cincinnati victory over Indianapolis;
We especially beseech thee and ask for Your Special Blessing on Cleveland to grant them a victory over Baltimore;
An Arizona victory over Denver;
A very special favor for an improbable Tennessee victory over Jacksonville;
A Minnesota victory over the New York Jets;
A San Diego victory over Kansas City;
All this we humbly ask in Thy Name, we know that we ask for much more than your humble servants deserve, and finally, with your all knowing, clairvoyance and omnipotence, keep all the Cincinnati Bengals healthy, out of trouble and out of jail, as we praise you for your glory.

The realist in me says Ken Anderson, hands down. The kid in me says Boomer(hence my handle) Boomer was my hero as a kid. I had one of those Hutch outfits I wore for halloween about four years running. In fact, i still have the helmet on my TV stand.
Ask my father, and between his tears, he'll tell you Greg Cook was better than all of them
I definitely have to agree with Greg Cook, he was awesome! Unfortunately he did not have any longevity. Hence, your father's tears I'm assuming...
That is a Bengal tragedy that is worthy of some tears. Man he was exciting.

vs Oak? Team flat, crowd flat, performance, just enough.
Can you imagine if we don't have all those turnovers?
2 were in the red zone or close, there's 14 points, the others, we'll say 10.
That's a big beat down, all the way around.
Even if you look at the as is stats, we beat them up and down today, even being flat.

What is the SOPCast number for the Bengals game?
The one on the site is the Raven Chiefs...

Ken Anderson is hands down the best Bengal QB. He should already be a Hall of Famer and one day most assuredly will be.
Having said that, Carson is most definitely going to be the best ever if he continues to produce the way he has over the past three years, while he also is clearly getting better and better.
But the eras are different, the game has changed, even between the end of Ken's career to the beginning of Carson's, let alone to the early 70's of the beginning of Ken's. Hard to compare the two directly against one another.

Football Gods having a little chuckle with Deltha at our expense?
Sheesh.

Better to not get any attention.

Did anyone else notice that Sean Salisbury has predicted the Raiders to beat the Bengals this weekend?
That's good because when we are huge runaway favorites and all the ESPN "gurus" pick us unanimously, we fall flat on our faces.
-
Nope, still want the Chiefs to lose. Easiest path to the playoffs iS as WC, so, rooting against all the other 7-5 teams...
You know, though, the great thing? One of them WILL LOSE, either way it is good for us!
Since we hold the tiebreaker head to head with KC, it is okay if they win.

In matters of revenue sharing and generation, it is pretty well documented where the Bills and Bengals are at.
I would not expect them to want to contribute from their revenues for a NY stadium when the current agrement is at the disadvantage of the small market teams, the Bengals did not get any help from the NFL and there is not anything on the horizon to correct the situation.
Just my opinion. Since I am not an insider, I will not presume to know or understand all the forces at work and all the issues underlying the situation, but given the recent track record, I would hesitate to accuse the Bengals of being cheap. Five years ago? Yes. Now? No. But that is just me.

Boy, sure sounds like dez is a little bitter this year, huh?
What a bummer. Have a nice off season. See ya next year.

Well looks like he may not have double digit sacks which would make him more affordable heh...
From what little I have seen from Oakland this year he may get to double digit sacks this week!
Hell, he may get double digit sacks in ONE GAME! Him and Geathers BOTH!

NFL salary cap rising by $7 million for 2008 season
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com
Salary cap managers for several NFL teams say they were apprised this week that the league spending limit will rise to $116 million per franchise for the 2008 season.
The increase in the cap for 2008 was first reported by the Dallas Morning News.
Cap managers were informed of the bump in the cap during their annual labor seminar near Dallas.
The $7 million increase, from $109 million in 2007 to $116 million in 2008, was not unanticipated. It matched the increase for 2007 from this season, in which the cap is set at a record $102 million. Salary cap managers typically are provided such updates for planning purposes, because it allows them benchmarks as they work to negotiate future contracts.
How the increase for 2008 impacts the league remains to be seen, since there is one more free agency period and draft between now and that season. But in general, it means there will be more money to spend on players, which likely will further allow teams to retain their own best veterans, which promotes stability but further dilutes the free agent market.
Some personnel directors already feel that the free agent class for next spring will be one of the thinnest ever, because the increase in the salary cap for 2006 allowed clubs to negotiate long-term extensions with many of their so-called "nucleus" veterans. Still, the cap manager from one AFC franchise projected there will be about $700 million in cap room available to teams in the spring of 2007 to invest in free agents and draft choices.
Several teams are projected to have more than $30 million in cap space for 2007 and a few have more than $40 million available to them. Translation: Since the money has to be spent, even some players of modest abilities will command significant contracts.
With the cap set to soar to $116 million, it means that the spending limit will have increased by nearly 36 percent in the first three years of the extension to the collective bargaining agreement, which was approved eight months ago. The spending limit for 2005 was $85.5 million and was scheduled to rise to $94.5 million before the CBA extension. Approval of the extension set the cap at $102 million for 2006 and $102 million for 2007.

I doubt that the Raiders have seen the quality of wide receivers that we possess AND the combination of a top QB that can throw the deep ball into tight spaces...
fyi - They play SD (Rivers), DEN, & KC twice. They also play the AFC East (Brady, Penny) & the NFC West (Hassle-buck, Matt Lionheart).
Once you're 3/4 through the season, all teams have played at least some great QB's and RB's . . . . unless you're the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!
Oakland has faced:
Week 1: SD - QB, good, WRs? still playing Marty Ball.
2 Balti ??
3 Cleveland ??
4 San Fran ??
5 Den QB? NO! WRs ?
6 Ariz Rookie QB, good WRs (two, but not three or more)
7 Pitt - ?? neither this year!
8 Seattle ?? (Wallace was starting, WRs are ??)
9 Den ?
10 KC - combination not up to Bengals standards, WRs??
11 SD - WRs still questionable
12 Houston - certainly not up to Bengals standards...
Of all the teams you listed, every single one of them fit my criteria: they may have either 1. Top QB (Pats, ?SD?) or 2. decent WRs, but not combination of both.
Wait a minute... Oakland has not faced NE, are you talking about the same Oakland Raiders that we are playing THIS week?
If they played Indy or New Orleans I might agree with you, but SD relies on LT and he had an off day vs Oakland until he got it going in the 2nd half.
So... I stand by my post.

I've done some trolling on some Raiders boards and they think their defense isn't as good as the stats say. Since their offense does so little and they are always behind, they are facing mainly a running offense for the most of the game, thus the reason they are ranked first against the pass.
#85 gave the OAK DBs alot of props based on what he saw on film.....Maybe just trying not to be overconfident?
Look for Henry to go crazy in 3 WR sets....
Sucker Punch!
I doubt that the Raiders have seen the quality of wide receivers that we possess AND the combination of a top QB that can throw the deep ball into tight spaces...
Oh boy.
I just hope they do it early so that they get the opportunities! Then Rudi can run!

Anybody watch the Rutgers vs WVU game?
TE Clark Harris Rutgers 6-6 260
He was phenomenal!
He is supposed to be the best Blocking/Pass Catching TE in the draft and better yet, he is not considered a 1st / 2nd rounder. He is rated "early 3rd round" which would make him perfect for us to pick up in the late 2nd!
So that we don't miss out on him like we did Fasano and Scheffler last year!
But in all seriousness, he looked very good running routes and blocking in the run game for the Rutgers backs.
This is a guy I would like to see in Orange and Black stripes!

Even Marvin wants KC to beat Balti...
"This is the one we got dealt. It's what we earned. It'll be good. We get to play great football for the next four weeks. We've got to win four games. If we win four games, I think we'll have accomplished one of our first goals, and that's win the division. So we'll keep pressure on them. That's the thing we've got to do. We've got to win four games. Not worry about anything else. Just win one game at a time the next four games. I think things will take care of itself."
So come on everyone, put your energy together to pull for KC to beat Balti!

Ahem, Oakland was #3 Defense OVERALL, #1 vs the pass. Just FYI.
Minus the Three picks would have been nice, though.
