  1. The ratings are based off of last year, and let's be honest we sucked last year. Sports video games are always this years schedules with last years teams....They are done even before preseason and as such have no basis in fact. To me it illustrates that EA needs to allow update-able rosters and skills for the games, but then that may cut into next year sales, and since they have no competition why should they add something like that?

  2. Eh, we will see. With the unexpected depth the team has now at WR it's gonna be tough for him or Caldwell (at least Caldwell plays special teams) to get in much playing time. The best either can hope for is the team to install more 4 and 5 wr packages, and that goes against all the talk of running the ball more, so unless Simpson shows that he can run block or the injury bug strikes, he's gonna have a hard time even dressing for the games.

  3. I don't remember the coaches ever saying that about Ghiaciuc. And the players certainly never came out and raved about him like players are doing about cook. Obviously there is a notable difference.

I remember when Ghiaciuc had to start his rookie year against the Jags, Willie and the o-line praised his play and he did do a good job for a game, but it was all downhill after that.

But as for Cook, they were singing his praises last year too before he went down with an injury.

  4. It was announced that Darlington has a May 2006 race. Call me a traditionalist but how can you not have a race at Darlington.

The same way they can't have a race at Rockingham....It sucks. They take away the best racing tracks just to get a cookie cutter 1.5 mile track in a big market!

  5. Actually Yates is finally looking at doing a driver development program. Even though turncoat Kahne backed out of his contract(But that's okay cause his ass is going to court), and the whole Kenny Irwin fiasco.... That's the whole point of the 90 team. Have DJ and Elliot establish it, then hand it over to a younger driver, and move CitiFinancial to a third cup team for an already somewhat established driver. Robert knows that DJ ain't gonna be racing but for a couple more years and I think he'd like to have somebody primed for the 88 and not worry about having to sign someone.

  6. I wouldn't be half surprised to see Ganassi take one of his open wheel racers and put them in the car. I'm actually hoping he puts Scott Dixon in one of his cars. Cause that would get the New Zealand media to pay real attention to NASCAR.

I'm stunned that McMurray is going to the 6, I so expected him to end up in the 2. I'm glad though, the kid has talent, even if I can't stand the fact he drives the Texaco car. But I blame Ganassi for that and not him.

  7. I think the testing issue is a big-hit no one's talking about. 25 tests for Roush and only, for example 10 for DEI? Shesh!

Testing is huge, one reason teams like adding a rookie, they get more tests. NASCAR Needs to do more to eliminate testing. Either have a mandatory test session like they do for Daytona and Talladega and not allow testing any other time, or allow teams to arrive a day earlier at a track and let them have a whole day before the racing starts to test. That would help eliminate a big expense as well, team owners would only pay for one more day of having the team at a race, not several days and extra expenses of sending them their to begin with.

But, just because they can't practice at a track on the schedule doesn't prevent them from testing at other tracks. Teams are always going to V.I.R. (in my hometown at that) to test for road course racing, so doing away with testing dates would only slow the problem down.

  8. A couple of things...Pollack's number won't be 99 unless he is listed as a defensive lineman. Otherwise he has to choose a number in the 50's. You might not want to spend that dough before the season starts.

Actually Linebackers are allowed numbers in the 90's as well as the 50's so I'd expect Pollack to keep the 99 especially since they have been hawking those jerseys....

  9. I don't understand what it means by, "The team that takes Wright in the supplemental draft loses the corresponding pick next April. Draft order is set by a lottery based on 2004 records and is done the day of the draft. The team that gets Wright will also have its rookie salary pool expanded to fit the pick." How many rounds are in this supp. draft or is it like a bidding process like I'm willing to give up my 3rd round and if no one else is willing to give up a 3rd round we get him. Someone please explain.......thanks.. :player:

Yep, it's a bidding thing. A team offers a draft pick, whoever offers the highest pick would get him (or any other player). Then the team that wins, loses whatever pick they gave up. Say the Bengals offered a fourth rounder for this guy, and a say the Packers and Falcons offered a fourth rounder as well, the Bengals would win because of their 2004 record. However, in the 2005 draft they lose their 4th rounder, even if (no if, this is gonna happen) they would be drafting later than the other teams that they outbid.

  10. I don't really agree with Marty. I mean yeah sure they would be sharing their info but in the long run i think it would greatly help DEI and Gibbs. And im sure the drivers wouldn;t mind it either.

I agree. Marty missed it on this one. Data is data, and the more you have, the better off you are. Especially in Nascar!

Okay, suppose you share your data with another team, then you lose to that other team. What does that do for your sponsers, or your team? Are they splitting any of the winners money? The only way "team up" would work would be either have a manufacturer step in and help facilitate it (that's what happened with the Yates-Roush engine team-up, Ford made it happen, Jack and Robert don't actually like each other very much, even recently, Roush went to Robert with an offer to buy RYR and Robert told him to take it and shove it up his....hat) the other way would be a full on merger.

Also what good is sharing data if you use different chassis? That's another thing that has helped Roush and Hendrick, they now have a common chassis between the teams instead of having the 6 team make theirs and the 99 team make another type of chassis so any data gathered helps everyone. Plus all the Roush drivers have a similar prefrence for setups (they all like them loose). Not sure about the Hendricks teams though.

Also, a few years back DEI and Childress and I think another team gathered together to share data....It didn't help....

  11. Well my thouights are it proves my point that teams need to be limited to 3 cars not 4-5.

Besides odds being o nthere side al lthe shared testing is a great advantage.

Actually, Owners are limited to 2 teams already. The way they get around it have other people listed on the entry. Mark Martin owns the 17 team for instance. I think Hendricks brother is listed as the owner of some of the teams. People make a big deal about the big multicar teams but really, when you look at the stats only two of the Hendrick drivers have won a race, and only three of the Roush drivers have won a race. Other teams lean heavily on Roush and Hendricks. The Yates teams have the same engines, and the Wood Brothers are basically the 6th Roush team. And with the Hendricks the 10/01/36 use their engines. I think one of the most over looked aspects is the fact that All the Roush drivers like their cars loose, and that plays into the new spoiler rule. But a lot of teams haven't adjusted well to the new rule (see Dale Jr). As for Gordon and Johnson, they are gonna win no matter what as long as they have good equipment. Plus you have to look as some of the luck the other teams have had that had it not happened may have changed the outcome of a race or two.

  12. Bengals pick 5 was quite bad.

Also, why are we picking 3 offensive players in a row when our most glaring needs are on defense?

    I flat out don't understand.

Maybe that's why you aren't working for a profootball team?

Neither are you ! You have your opinion, he has his, but I do know that Tj has put out more draft information and gave better analysis on perspective draftable players than you have

Mr. Johnny come lately !

Actually Chris, that Mr, post lately, I've been around, just too busy with real life to freak out about the draft....

  13. Ooh, I think I struck a nerve with the so called draft expert. You want to insult me? Take it off forum. You spend so much time doing research that when the actual draft get's here you always end up disappointed. I still think it's bloody funny that you think you know talent better than the guys that get paid to know it. and really, I would hope you could get it right some times Chris, cause you spend so much time on it sheesh, when th hell do you actually work? Cause you ain't getting paid for your talent scouting.

  14. Man some of you guys need to just calm down. The Bengals had a great draft. Just because they didn't take the guy you got a stiffy for doesn't mean it was a bad pick. Players take time to develop even the best ones. I just can't get over how some you want to flush the whole draft because you didn't like the day 2 picks! You don't tend to draft starters in the lower rounds, hell those are the guys that are gonna have a hard time making the team to begin with. This team is a bit deeper than in years past when getting drafted meant staying on the team. Just like everybody else, not all of our draft picks will make this team....You want to rag on the team and have your day ruined by that, well feel free too. But you must take yourself a little too serious.

  15. You can sign them now. and they will go to the teams that have the higher needs. So the Bengals are a very attractive destination for a undrafted safety or tight end, but I have a feeling that D and O-linemen, linebackers and wr's will avoid us because of the depth that we already have there (except at center)

  16. Great, let's see the team sign some old washed up player that wants too much money. Good players hardly ever get cut anymore. The only type of signings would be role players and depth. and you don't sign vets for that you use the draft and undrafted free agents for that. I would like to see a strong safety come in, but the starter happens to have a super bowl ring and has played in a top defense before. Maybe they'll convert Miller to a strong safety, he has the speed and frame for it. Who knows? Oh wait, the professionals that run the team and know the players they have...

  17. We're complaining because of the most simple thing... we are being graded on how well we did on day one...DUHHHHHHH

No Chris, you just complain because the Bengals didn't agree with your scouting report. You also harpooned the Bengals for all of thier picks last year because they didn't agree with your picks. I remember you bitching and moaning about every player the Bengals picked last year....Never mind that most of them came on strong by the end of the year. Besides, did you even read the whole comment posted? Prisco was talking about the player drafted in the 6th rd.

Too many people around here think they know more about football and football players than the people that actually do know the game and the players. The same thing happened last year, probably will happen next year. I mean really, some of the people on this board were begging the Bengals to draft players in the second round that ended up not even getting drafted. Sounds like 32 teams knew something you didn't.

  18. Well, he has been the starter for two seasons and the Falcons made the playoffs both of those seasons and sucked big time the season he didn't start, can't argue with that. Plus look at the revenue he helps bring in with jersey sales and tickets sold. Vick is a winner, and he get's people's attention. He may never post the greatest stats, but he's got the most important ones and that's the W's.
