A Kick returner would be hard pressed to win the MVP award, especially one on the same team as Priest Holmes. Plus like you said, the Chiefs would be winning even if Hall wasn't playing like he is, just not as much. I think the MVP should be someone that if they weren't there the team would struggle to even break .500. Say someone like Stephen Davis in Carolina or Marc Bulger in St Louis. Those teams would struggle without them in the lineup for more than a week.

do we bench him all year?
Yep, All this year, and if it hurts the cap to get rid of him, bench him next year as well. I mean really, if it would cost too much to release him or trade him next year then don't even dress him, or make him play special teams only. What makes him so special that he is above the rest of team? He maybe the best player on the team(I have my doubts cause Chad is the bomb) But last time I looked there are 11 players on the field at anyone time, and CD has not won one game for the Bengals in the past two years.
-
Well, Marvin has been more than happy to show people the door, even top players so I don't think Corey should get any special treatment. I say sit him down and don't dress him for a game or two, see what happens then. This team is bigger than any one player, even CD.
-
Just found this...I hope it's wrong for so many reasons. First being that Corey doesn't have a clue about the NFL cause the trade deadline has passed. What is he, stupid? Second, why leave when things are turning around for the Bengals. Yeah, he doesn't get the ball 40 times a game, but damn, no running back should for more than a game or two. If the Bengals were still losing badly, then yeah, ask to be traded, cut anything, but come on, why jump when things are turning around. I am just astounded that he is being so selfish. He might want to go to Dallas but I don't think Parcells would have a bar of that selfish ass attitude. For that matter I can see Dillon not suiting up for the rest of the year and coach Lewis let Rudi, and Kenny get the snaps...(just please not Bennett)

We only beat New Olreans easily, and they are better than you.
WTF???
The Aints suck big time. I mean they suck more than the Browns, they are like Arizona low. The most overated team in the NFC.
hey were playing with Chris Chandler at QB and that alone makes them betterDo you not have a clue mate? Chandler is the glass QB and hasn't taken a meaningful snap in about 3 years. And what is he? like a thousand?
The teams the Seagulls beat:
Arizona...Suck so bad it ain't funny...I feel for Arizona fans, but that's another story for another time.
Bears....Have no defense, no passing game, and not much of a running game
Rams...Good team, but by one point at home...not a good sign when they play them again in St Louis
Saints....Bad team, lot's of problems, came into the season way overated.
49ers...Another overated team that can self destruct and did against the Seagulls.
The loss....the hammering....the ass reaming the seahawks recieved from the Packers....That was a game they should have been up for and they weren't. That's just piss poor to be in week 5 and play that poorly against a good team but one with a weak defense.
The suppossed defense of the Seagulls will be exposed for what it has done, shutdown bad teams.
Your a poor sport silly nuts! And if I sound pissed then yep, I am.

I think as a back up he would still try to help Palmer and provide a good insurance policy if needed.
Totally agree. Kit is a class act. However he would generate a lot of interest on the FA market if he could lead the Bengals to the Playoffs...And I don't think it's fair to Kitna to hold the clipboard when he has the skills to play QB in the NFL. How the Bengals handle Kitna-Palmer situation will be a huge indication of where the Franchise is at and going next year.
I'll also say that there is no need to rush Palmer out onto the field just cause he was the top pick.
-
I think Chad will be in the probowl this year. Also I think Duane Clemons has an outside shot at making it if he keeps getting those sacks.
<rant>
The biggest problem with probowl voting is that the fans get to vote. Fans don't tend to vote with knowledge they vote for popularity, (see Mike Allstot making the Probowl as a fullback...he is so not a fullback..fans are idiots) I voted and based my votes on how people are playing.
</rant>
Last years probowl is a prime example, not one Titan was voted in? WTF? Why you ask? Small market, smaller fan base....It will be a big problem for the Bengals this year as they are having a good year, and are playing really well, but no national media exposure the average "fan" will be clueless, I mean I live in New Zealand and can't even watch most games and I know more than most people....

What is going to happen to Kitna when the season is over?
Ah, now that's the question. Kitna has stated that he wants to stay here, even if it's as a backup, but he couldn't be happy as a backup if he continues to play the way he does. With one year left on his contract he could be traded, however that probably won't happen, as trades just don't happen in the NFL anymore. He's too classy to rock the boat like a certain former Bengals QB...cough, Jeff Blake...Cough. If Kitna does lead the Bengals to the playoffs, you'd have to expect for him to go into training camp as the started and see if Palmer can unseat him. But then you are paying your backup QB a whole lot of money to hold the clipboard. They could try a trade but only if they resign Shane Matthews, because you have to have quality QBs all the way to the 3rd string. Unless Kitna self destructs at some point this season, next year will be very interesting.

Thornton has been solid. The Bengals haven't been great against the run this year, but I would say that more from outside running than inside running. Plus the Bengals use a rotation for the D-line so that keeps fresh players in and keeps any one DT from having monster stats.
I will agree with you that Thompson has the potential to succeed, but it's more up to him. He never seem to try very hard when he was here.
Cheers

I hope they both lose

Lewis seems to be pretty astute on who to keep and who to cut.
I think that is without a doubt one of the biggest assets of Coach Lewis. All of the talent picked up this offseason have played and played well. T. James has made a huge impact on D, so has Clemons on the line. And everyone else has been contributing as well. I would say that the team isn't missing anyone Lewis let go since he's been here, including Takeo.....

Now I'm waiting to see what effect it will have on them next week against the Seahawks.
Yep, that's the thing, they have shown they can win against a quality team, now they have to show they can win two in a row, and that will go a long way to helping them establish that these ain't the Bungles....
-
I think one thing to consider is that the Bengals will want to win this one for Kitna. The Bengals showed what they can do when motivated, and Kitna has the total respect of this team, and is their leader and I can't see them wanting to see him loose to his old team that pretty much shafted him. Just so long as Kit doesn't try to force it this is a very winnable game.
-
If the Bengals can continue to establish the air attack that they showed in the Baltimore game, then yes simply because the teams won't be packing the box to stop CD so that will open it up. Besides, if he's healthy they do have to play the Browns again, and a healthy Dillon would eat the Browns for lunch, and have an afternoon snack as well.

i dont understand why get rid of him just to resign him to the practise squad does this save us $$$$$ or am i just not getting it ??????
No it doesn't save money, it does save salery cap space as the practise squad doesn't count towards the cap. Keeping him on the practice squad gives the Bengals the chance to keep him moving along. He can keep up with the playbook, practice with the team. Where as when he is signed off the street he would half to fit in with the team again. The Bengals feel that Walter can help them right away but don't want to give up on Hamilton so they keep him on the practice squad and hope he doens't get signed by another team.
As for keeping TJ versus Dugans. TJ is a better offensive player. I also think maybe the Bengals underestimated his injury, but when you put someone on the IR they are lost for the season. If he doesn't get better by week 10, I can see Dugans coming back, if he is healthy, I kinda have my doubts though.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried about this game a few weeks ago. But after seeing the Seahawks squek past the Bears, I am not nearly as worried. I also think Kitna will be pumped up for this game, and the whole team will be fired up after winning this week. The Bengals are still looking for some respect and beating the top team in the NFC west will go a long way for that. In fact I can see the Bengals going on a bit of a run in the next few weeks setting up a dandy with KC...But anyway...
Bengals 30 Seahawks 17.

It was still a blowout. The Ravens scored when it didn't matter. The Bengals countered everything the Ravens had. The Bengals nearly scored at will against the Ravens and the Ravens couldn't manage anything until late in the game. The only thing the Bengals didn't do against the Ravens was score a Special Teams TD...That was the best game they have played against a quality opponent in years.

This was a great win. Kitna has really responded well the last few games. You could also see that having Schobel back in the game helped by giving him a third target so I actully expect Kitna to have even better games for the rest of the season. It's no real surprise the Dillon didn't get back on track, the Ravens do have a good defense, but he did make some runs when they counted. This game shows exactly why Palmer is holding the clipboard and not starting, losing the ball as much as Boller did can't help his mindset, and he has to play this team again
....But I'll keep my mouth shut on my opinion of the Baltimore QB situation and their "offensive guru" head coach....

I think the Bengals will be pumped for this game, but it will be tight. I see this will be a game that the Ravens will regret starting a rookie QB. Bengals 17-Ravens 14.

I can't really see the Bengals trading Dillon. Unless Dillon becomes a real jerk I can't see them doing it. Next years draft is very deep with Running Backs, so they can draft one late on the first day, Keep Corey so you don't have to depend on a rookie RB, or the committee approach. Corey has a few good years left in him there is no need whatsoever to get rid of him. He is the perfect back for a Marvin Lewis team. The injuries he has had are not traumatic, not career threatning. He has been a work horse and extremely healthy, these injuries happen and are no reason to ditch him. But I will say if he becomes a problem, trade him. The Bengals don't need that sort of thing. But I don't ever want to see #28 on another team, he has been simply amazing since he got here.

I think the plan is to get Palmer as much pratice as possible without having a negative impact on the team. Kitna has shown he knows how the offense, and can move it. The only problem Kitna has is when he is trying to win the game and forces things, then he creates turnovers. I don't think the week of practice would benefit him like it will Palmer. They won't even be putting in the game plan for the Ravens until next week anyway. Kitna will be the starter until the Bengals our out of contetion, injury, or he self destructs. The Bengals have no reason to rush Palmer into the lineup before he is ready.

It's no secret that I thought Harris should have been gone a long time ago. I was pleased as punch to see him gone. It'll be interesting to see how the punting improves, and for that matter everyone else. You don't do your job for Coach Lewis and you are either gone, or at the least benched, this is the guy that benched Bruce Smith for Goodness sakes. The Coach doesn't play around. I would also Dugans will be back around week 10 or 12. You don't cut your best Teams player and not know what you are doing.
cheers
-
Well, if this is what you do when you win I'm gonna hate to see what happens when they lose again. It seems that the Bengals have cut Chris Edmonds from the team, and Ray Jackson from the practice squad. They signed Kenny Watson who Coach Lewis has wanted since he was cut by the Redskins. They also signed James Lynch, a fullback, to the practice squad. Hopefully this will help spark the run game, and show players that one win isn't a super bowl.
cheers

Well, I've said all along how overated the Bills are, and I think there past two games show I was on track with that call. I don't think they'll be able to handle the Bengals. They don't have a running game, and only one wide reciever, I mean the Eagles shutdown the passing game for 3 quarters with three rookie DB's. I would expect the Bengals to use a similair defensive stragety to the Eagles to shut down the Bills. The Bills defense is a good unit, but the Bengals have to be commited to the run to keep them honest and the passing game will open up. The biggest issue will be how the Bengals run the ball. If they can get 100 yards out of Rudi the game will be ours. I think the score will be somewhere around 17-10 for the Bengals in a defensive game.
cheers
Dillon wants out?!
in Cincinnati Bengals
Posted
That's just it, very few coaches would be desprate enough to get someone that has the potential to be a coach killer that Dillon would have. Yep, if they cut him, Arizona would have first dibs, followed by Detroit, Chicago, and Atlanta. Damn, playing Arizona is a fate worse than death, just look at poor Emmitt(not that I have a lot of sympathy for him
)
