Alright, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to advertise this site. How to get the word out that this is the BEST Bengals "fan" site; even though I think the differing opinions offer amazingly great perspectives. This site also offers way better interaction than any site out there since we with discuss everyday with real fans and all users, most with experience since 1968 to the new fans in 2004. This site is way better than Bengals.com.

However, what can we do to get the word out to the world that we are the main infrastructure of Bengal fans, the central location of all things Bengals.

Well let me say that I'm quite the "Bengalszone" name dropper whenever I'm at another teams website. That may be both good and bad. (Sorry Terry if it is!) It brings in the foul mouthed trash talkers and such, but that's when my job starts, which is to shut down these idiots. I haven't had such work in a long time now...so sad! I don't get excited or pissed at any of these jerks, because if you do...you just gave 'em exactly what they wanted from you. The knowlege that they pissed you off. NEVER GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION!! NEVER LOSE YOUR COOL NO MATTER HOW MUCH SMACK THEY TALK!! (Maybe I should offer some sort of correspondence course on this?)

Right now I mainly frequent "Ravens Talk.com" due to our two resident Ravens fans Jam31 and Arizona come from there. Lots of good fans there, but it's in such a handicapped layout, it makes "Jungle Noise" look good.

Another good idea, tech wise, is through the use of seach engines. It's how I found this site to begin with back on November 30th of last year. By using them, (Google, Dogpile, Webcrawler, etc. even though you know how to find the site anyway!) those key words stay in their search database, and the pages searched out by their services stay cached on their system. So whenever anyone else searches the web looking for any one of the words used in your "search", such as Cincinnati, Bengals, NFL, or whatever else is related to our team, the search will direct them to the site, or one of the pages from it. What I'm trying to say is even though you obviously don't need to search out this place, do it anyway to feed the data links in the search engines. Everyone uses them from time to time, and their cheaper than paid links!

I don't know if you've noticed the large influx of visitors to the site in the past few days. I'm not saying I'm responsible, but I had recently mentioned "Bengalszone" at more than a few places on the web. The way I saw this change was by clicking on "view complete list" under "Board Statistics" on the Forum main page, which I've usually done just to see who's doing what. There has always been a "guest" or two visiting there, but lately it has jumped considerably! It gives you a look at who and how many are looking at what. I think a "Join up or register now!!" banner on the Forum main page would encourage people to not just view the forum topics, but to jump in and participate as well! That's what you're looking for is members, right? From there I think the word of mouth would do the driving! B)

This site already has a faithful following. I think it'll continue to grow along with the continued growth of the Bengals success! From what I can tell this site's not quite yet a year old. I think it's best and busiest are yet to come! :)

Billy, thanks for your input. I really think this is the best Bengals fan site on the web. Terry has done an amazing job keeping the historical data up to date, keeping the site alive and we've got a forum that I think rivals no one regarding Bengals talk.

I know that we are heavily integrated with Google and today I applied to Yahoo to put it in it's directory listing.

A few months ago, I went to a bunch of NFL forums telling people about BengalsZone.com, so I'm not sure if that's the recent surge of new user, b/c we've had quite a few.

I think you're right though, the word of mouth is probably the most influenctial and impact version of getting this site out and about.

I've also been e-mailing local radio sports talk shows about the site to see if we can get our name out there also.

This site has so much potential. It's consistanly updated with views on our articles, forums that consistantly has a core of guys that discuss anything from Bengals to NASCAR, we have stats and records and personalities that becomes quick friendships from anyone in the world.

Remove the Bengals discussions and I still consider a good portion of you guys my friends because we all relate so well. And that's just a portion of what I get out of this site.

And therein those words of yours lies the key!! Honest talk, comradere, and a friendly personal atmosphere! Provide a comfortable place for fans to become friends, as I have with many here, and hold onto your hat and get ready for takeoff!! This site is going places...just like the Bengals!! :D

Well, first I'd say boost the links to bengalszone and that helps...get other teams to link to you, you link to them...That helps with the google thing...Also, when you post in any other forum, football, sports, or web development, or toy collecting, or whatever the hell, add a link to the zone in your sig....Also, if you own a site put a link to here somewhere on your site. I actually found this site when I went to try to register the name myself to create a site just like this one, only to find out someone did it for me. :D That's good, cause I'm kinda lazy.

Oh, and Billy, can I book one of those courses? Opposing fans tend to piss me off, I just can't help myself...

Oh, one other thing. If someone is willing to plop out some cash, googles adwords might be something to look at...if someone search for a certain term say cincinnati Bengals forum then bingo, you get a link...you only pay for what's been clicked on too.

It's 5:35 pm right now on Tuesday, Feb. 24th, and we currently have 13 guests looking at the forum list as we speak! I don't know what's going on, but that ain't bad!!  B)

Two hours later, and we now have 15 guests! Only four members. We need to make registration more available at this hinge point I think!

actually, I don't think the problem is people not knowing how to sign up...Most people that are looking at a forum pretty much know what they're doing...You've seen one forum, you've seen them all....The biggest thing to attract users is the depth of discussion, and that is helped by good quality posts, and I think that for the most part you get that here...maybe not as much as we'd like, but what can you expect...It's that time of the year....Maybe we can attract some NASCAR fans ;)

Hey, I'm willing to help with about anything web related...I gotta be good for something besides off the wall NASCAR facts

I had lunch with Herbert Wilf several years ago at a conference at LSU. He gave two nice talks on how his team made google. The ideas and mathematics were so natural it's no surprise to me that it is the #1 search engine. :D It's all linear algebra.

What's up with the traffic? My sister has worked for eyescream.com's marketing perhaps the sight could use some consulting with its marketing. She'll work for food.

Agreed, but a good percentage of the time registration is more of an "impulse" thing. The combination of good posts, with easy registration only encourages visitors to do more than visit, if you get my drift! B)

Another hour and a half later, almost 11:00 pm local Cincy time, and we have 14 guests, and six members on board. The wave is building!! B)

I also forgot to mention a live "chat room" feature. I think it would be at it's best during a game, so comments could be shared in a play by play atmosphere. I feel this would be alot of interactive fun, don't you? B)

I agree. I never got it to work though, I tried to join a couple of times and just assumed it wasn't working. It could have been my 'puter but not sure.

In all seriousness, we should create  a Bengalszone Pop up...everytime anyone clicks on a AFC north team's  web page, they get a bengalszone pop up.

Pop ups SUCK!! I make it a point to NEVER, repeat NEVER do business with anyone or any site that throws their s**t in my face without me asking first.

It's a crass, and low rent tactic to shove their product down someones throat. Better served only from gay porn websites in my opinion.
