AGrizzlyBaer
What I'm hearing from my Bengals "peeps"Draft newsSafeties the Bengals are high on*Greg Blue Georgia....great attitude, fast learner, history with Georgia guys*Daniel Bullocks Nebraska...........versatile, big hitter, Neb defensive system hurt him*Ko Simpson South Carolina....great cover, needs to improve vs runThey want to add speed at LB and grab a Pollack pro-type......DE and WLB....some they like:*Kamerion Wimbley Florida State...tenacity to be special*Manny Lawson North Carolina St....Pollack cloneTwo TE's they spoke about:*Vernon Davis Maryland....automatic starter for Bengals*Leonard Pope Georgia...needs to develop receiving skillsDT they appear high on:*Babatude Oshinowo Stanford....big boy, big potential*Brodrick Bunkley Florida State.....surprised them by showing up at 298 lbs....wasn't slowed by it.It sounds like they might have a 3rd round pick to play with, because they expect somebody to sign Kelley Washington. Here is a "perfect world" blueprint I was givenRd 1. Blue, S.............if TE Davis is here, they would take him....or could take one of the two DT mentionedRd 2. Lawson, DE/LBRd 3: Joel Klopfenstein, TERd 3: Daniel Bullock, loading up on safetiesRd Rodrique Wright.........if he falls this far, DT......keep an eye on Barry Cofield, NW DTRound #5 thru #7 will be CB, WR, and a LT. BengalChamps
Seems weird to have 4 starters from the same college if they draft Blue...but if he's the BPA, they should do it. Despite the need for TE, we have to keep drafting defense.
kingwilly
Very surprised this info regarding Blue. Seems like Rogers Beckett all over again, not enough coverage ability. "Adding Speed" at LB, to me, is code for "we think Brian Simmons is slowing down". This is good news. Manny Lawson is scary. Dude could trun out to be a real monster. I also like Thomas Howard from UTEP but prolly gone by the third.
Kazkal
Blue can't cover....I woulden't wanna see him taken till 3rd
HairOnFire
DT they appear high on:*Babatude Oshinowo Stanford....big boy, big potential How sad is this? I was going to pimp this guy after watching him in the Senior Bowl but didn't think I could spell his name closely enough for anyone to know who I was talking about. Tasher
I may be starting to warm to Blue in regards to his cover skills. He obviously has the speed and fluid hips to be able to cover...Check out this scouting report:http://www.fantasyfootballjungle.com/y/200...ndex.php?id=358Pros: Blue has amazing size at 6'3", 215 and had amazing speed for a man that size. he is almost a freak of nature as his explosion is amazing. Blue is a very good tackler. It seems as if every time he locks on to a ball carrier...he hits them just as square as that ball carrier can be hit. He has also gotten much better in pass coverage. Cons: In the past I would have said pass coverage but now that he has improved in that area I would only have to say flexibility. He doesn't possess the flexible hips that alot of NFL DB's have but neither do Polamalu or Roy Williams...Still he has a problem with concentrating on the reciever and not finding the ball while it is in the air. Overall: He is a bigger Polamalu or Roy Williams. He will be an Pro and has the ability to be a 4-8 time Pro Bowler...
alleycat
Blue blows in pass coverage. He'll be there in the second. He's entirely overrated. He doesn't even seem that forceful against the run. Anyone see Michael Robinson's run to the right toward the end zone in the Senior bowl. Right at Blue, who pedaled backwards with a wide-receiver's lame block, waiting for Robinson to come to him - at the 2 yard line. Huge Gain (20 yds?). No thanks. We've got enough of that crap on this team already.I'd much rather take Pat Watkins later on and take a CB, stud OLB, TE, or DT (Bunkley's been looking very promising - all motor) in the first (or of course, one of the much more talented Safeties that may be there). No way Manny Lawson will be. If we want him, we should take him in the first.
