jjakq27 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5039My most vivid memory of that game was that fumble on the kickoff right before halftime. Just the feeling that I am not watching the same team that I had watched all year. That extra FG made it 20-0 which was too much to overcome. Also, I started working on a paper route with a friend the very next day. I had to sit there and fold 400 newspapers and stare at the picture of Ken Anderson and his son on the field after the game. How's that for punishment? Quote
Reimersfan88 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 That was our best Bengals team. Hell, even Bill Walsh said that he was surprised that his team came away with the victory. We really shoulda had that one. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Super Bowl XVI... WOW !!! I was 11 years old. I went to every home game that season to include the playoffs and the freezer bowl's -59 wind chill. When my mother got sick, I was called on to use the spare ticket to the Super Bowl and found myself in the endzone with my Dad. The whole atmosphere was amazing and it was great to be at the Bengals first Super Bowl appearance. After the game ended and people were trying to get out, I was separated from my Dad's hand and got lost. The crowd was out of control and the next thing I knew, I was headed in the opposite direction from my Dad. I found the nearest security guard and he took me to their holding office. The point to this is the office was across the stadium from where we were and the guard was trying to keep me calm, so we went across the field. Now figure a 10 year old getting to walk across the Super Bowl field, I WAS IN 7TH HEAVEN. I had almost forgotten that I lost my Dad at the time. My Dad finally caught up with me and all was well, until we got to the car and he beat my asspiece. I didn't even care, because I was so happy to get on the field and I have this cool memory that my Dad still talks about to the day... Anyway, that was my experience...Oh yeah, F**K the 49er's WHODEY !!! Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 We recovered a 49er fumble on the opening kickoff which resulted in a Anderson interception.Collinsworth fumbling on the 10 yard line.Goal line stand. We sure had our chances. Quote
