walzav29
Monday afternoon, Hayes looked over a group that includes Michigan tackle Gabe Watson (6-feet-3, 335 pounds), tackle Dusty Dvoracek (6-3, 302) of Oklahoma and end Victor Adeyanju (6-4, 265) of Indiana. The South team includes Jesse Mahelona (6-2, 304) of Tennessee, Louisville end Elvis Dumervil (6-0, 254) and the University of Miami's Orien Harris (6-3, 301).This is good. The coaches will know what kind of guy they are getting, and how he'll fit by scouting these guys. If they pass on these guys we'll know why. It's pathetic, but I'll probably watch this dumb game. I'm hoping that Gabe Watson plays his ass off. I know Marvin thinks you need more than size, but it seems like a good giant would help against the run. This article is in the post, but I think one of these guys will be a Bengal.
The_Next_Big_Thing
It's way too early to tell. Each of the guys you name are "big name" players. Marvin has a habit of finding gems that are not big names.
Tasher
from NFLDraftCountdown: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...s/north123.html"Did someone say defensive linemen? Gabe Watson of Michigan was very impressive, showing great quickness off the ball and tremendous power on the bull rush. Virginia Tech's Darryl Tapp had a lot of trouble going up against Daryn Colledge while Tamba Hali was singled out by coaches numerous times and given instructions and advice. The guy to watch though might be Victor Adeyanju of Indiana, who made some plays and got a lot of attention from coaches. At linebacker the standout was supposed to be Chad Greenway of Iowa and while he showed great intangibles he did struggle a bit in drills. The two guys who really impressed me were Clint Ingram of Oklahoma and Jon Alston of Stanford, who were really fast and athletic and both looked great all day. Ingram particularly will be moving up my board as he has surprised me so far. Abdul Hodge of Iowa also made a nice play near the end of practice in the backfield with a tackle for a loss. I didn't get a chance to watch the defensive backs a whole lot and I will make sure to get to them tomorrow, but it seemed like Will Blackmon of Boston College was making a smooth transition back to defense. Finally, punter John Torp of Colorado has a booming leg but was very inconsistent and had his fair share of clunkers as well."Watson weighed in at 341. walzav29
Yeah. I remember how skinny Siragusa and Adams were. Being a space-eater never helps.
derekshank
I've watched quite a few Michigan games, and have never been overly impressed with Watson. He's big, but that's about it. Maholena despite being 40 pounds lighter gets penetration even when double covered. I don't know anything about this Harris kid out of Miami... but they are comparing him to Warren Sapp... and I'd like that more than Watson. walzav29
I didn't like Watson either, but I only watched him in one game. This will sort out through the combine. I'm just ready for this season to wrap up, so we can get on with next year. I always thought that I'd be happy at the end of the season after just making the playoffs, but it feels worse to make the playoffs and lose. I wish they could have just won the Super Bowl this year. For those who are interested the NFL Network is televising three of this weeks Senior Bowl practices. The programs come in 90 minute versions as well as 30 minute recaps. Nuggets from the first program included... There was a boatload of prospects who were found to be much smaller than advertised when poked, prodded, and measured. Among them, Mahelona was measured at a much shorter 6'0", Dumervil was heavier than previously listed but only 5'11", and Gabe Watson tipped the scales at 341...and reportedly looked good doing it. The featured matchup of the 1st practice was between da' Brick and da' Kiwi. Advantage Brick, an outcome that didn't surprise me much as I believe the OL always has the advantage, but Kiwi ended up on the ground more than I liked. A DT who doesn't seem to be highly rated, Jonathan Lewis, Virginia Tech, looked pretty impressive to me. Last, Tamba Hali looks pretty darn small to me, and his frame looks maxed out. Mixed feelings.
