BengalByTheBay Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 God I love these guys at football outsiders....http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2005/12/3...-previews/3443/IMO this is a pretty funny take on a legitimate issue -- how hard is it to keep getting up for these games when you've had to go to the "win one for the bus" card for the last month. And before you get your uproar on Squeeler fans, this is not a prediction that we do you this week. Obviously, I'm hoping that's the case, but this is really just about cautioning you against buying those restricted fare tickets to Detroit. Quote
Steel Legends Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 The Road to the Super Bowl is always tough for teams, and I'm glad that we are on the road, because we just haven't done it at home, especially going 15-1.This year is different because we peaked at the right time and that is the good thing. Going into the playoffs on a 4 game winning streak is big. Also getting back our All Pro LT, Marvel Smith, is huge for that offense.Team looks solid and I don't blame any team out there for not wanting to play us. Quote
walshfan Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I agree .. Every team has to beat good teams now.. Its tough for everyone and upsets will take place.. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted January 4, 2006 Author Report Posted January 4, 2006 "Whether Kansas City or Pittsburgh nabs that sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC, the Steelers and Chiefs aren’t battling for a chance to play in the Super Bowl — they’re battling for a chance to lose in the playoffs. The Steelers or the Chiefs would have to win three consecutive games, all on the road, to reach the Super Bowl. A likely scenario would be games at Cincinnati in the first round, at a well-rested Indianapolis in the second round, and at Denver in the AFC Championship. The Steelers and Chiefs are good enough to beat any of those teams on any given Sunday, but they’re not good enough to beat all three of them on three straight Sundays."There's tough -- then there's impossible. Should the Bengals win, at least we would get a possible extra week before Indy. and get them after a game rather than a bye. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not chalking up any wins for the Bengals -- hell, I'm not a Squeeler fan. Quote
duus Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 No doubt. To hear the media and fans in this town and you would think that the Steelers were the #1 seed and destined for not just the Super Bowl berth, but the victory as well. Forget about the Bengals ... they are just a little bitty finesse road bump on the way to the Super Bowl. Quote
bengals4ever Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Why does everyone think we don't want to play the steelers? If you are going to the SB all temas have to be conquered in one way or another. Three weeks ago everyone was shouting the Bengals praises. Now after the last two weeks which the team came out extremely flat everyone is writing us off.Game starts Sunday at 4:30. I am betting the Benglas will be VERY hungry. I hope they keep their composure and play within themselves. Quote
buck3y3d Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 "I love that were on the road!"This has got to be one of my favorite arguments of all time. Just because you can't win at home doesn't mean your going to win on the road. Let's dissect Pitt's losses.vs. New England - Homevs. Jacksonville - Homevs. Cincinnati - Home vs. Indy - Roadvs. Baltimore - Road (I'll excuse it for that awful QB called maddox )Well, obviously losing to 3 playoff teams at home, and 2 opponents on the road (your road schedule with the exception of San Diego was easier than the home schedule) you want to be on the road. This sounds like a sorry excuse. You lost in the playoffs last year because New England was the better team, not because Heinz field is haunted. If you do beat the Bengals, your going to Indy. "Oh Boy, I am so glad we get to go play in the dome." If cincy wins, I certainly am glad we're going to Denver and not Indy. Quote

But that's a hope and a prayer... just a long shot. Quote
