It's simple. Mike Tice is dumb. Just a big dummy, and when it comes to game planning obviously coaching is huge. Watching the Patriots last week amazed me. Collins was lighting it up. Bill makes his changes and they kill him in the 2nd half. I think that Marvin is a better coach and will have the Bengals ready to take advantage of the Vikings. I'll tell you this. The Bengals win and the media is going to be all over this bandwagon.

Some other reasons why I feel the Bengals can take this game...

the vikings offensive line is in disarray... Their starting center ( Birk ) is out and a rook is filling in ...their right guard is having problems and their left tackle has an injury ( McKinnie ) McKinnie is slow ...he has prolems on pass defense..

I think our DT's can get some pressure up the middle and Geathers will do the same from Culpepper's bllind side....

they have no feature back....look at their roster ....Moore ? Faison? Bennent?

Jesus Im glad we dont have that dilemma of choosing between those guys.

without a decent line none of them is going to be that effective.

The Loss of Moss...say what you will about him but he was their go to guy...

They really dont have a deep threat now ( dont day Williamson..he's a rook like our Henry and he didnt even dress last game...he's not ready yet..)

their defense is shaky up the middle.. they wear done late in games...they arent getting pressure up the middle or from the outside ( sound familiar?)

Griese had time to look the field over against them.....

As stated above about Tice.. I agree... I dont think he's a very good coach.

Ive heard some analysts say he's one of worst in the NFL when it comes to adjusting at halftime... Marvin has a huge advantage on him in this catagory.

I see the Bengals coming at the Vikes in the same manner they did the Browns

Establish the run and kill them with the short pass until they are vulnerable enought to go long on....

Cincy 27 Viles 17.......

I disagree ..I think they have a stable of runners that are decent.. None of them scare anyone.. hey without a offensive line thats in tact what does it matter anyway.. How many yards did this trio rush for against tampa bay? 20 something.

the pass oriented offense lacks the gem now ( Moss)... totally stupid to rid yourself of him imo... Its going to hurt them allot this season....

I think it's as simple as this...

1) We cannot declare how any good any team is based on the first game of the season. Marvin says they are a stout team...I guarantee he has studied the Vik's more then any of us.

2) At any given time, any RB could run for tons of yards these past 2 years. We did well against the Browns "RB by committee" but I was happy that we got through the first game without having a RB run for 200 yards in the first game for once! (lol)

3) Culpepper is unknown now without Moss. You cannot say if he was good because of Moss...or the other way around. This season will tell everyone where the truth lies. And I mean AfTER the season..not after the first game.

4) Any given sunday....blah, blah, blah....never underestimate the opponent.

I'm looking forward to a win...a close one. But I don't feel it will be in the bag based off an "injured OL, Slow OL, Small DB's, no Moss, etc..."

I will be there! :player:

Well what would you base a win on ? what the posters ( myself included ) are trying to do is breakdown their weaknesses and how we can capitalize on them for a win.... just generalizing about the game makes for a ho hum tread wouldnt you say?

Culpepper looked lost out there without Moss. Then again it was the first game of the season, a lot of sloppy play all around the NFL. I feel we will win this, but I do think that the Vikings will be better than they were against Tampa Bay.

Nothing on their offense really jumps out at me except for Culpepper, and he's hit or miss.

I don't defend Tice's playcalling with Viking fans so I certainly won't do it with a Bengal fan, but our defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell is definately no dummy. He finally has the personnel to run his schemes and I think it will show this season.

Guys like Winfield, Cowart, and Pat Williams all used to play for Cottrell, so there is little adjustment taking place this year, unlike years past.

I'm just a little more realistic I guess. If we were going to play UC's football team, I would find something to worry about :P

Plan for the worst, and you will be prepared. Hope for the best, and you plan to be disappointed.

I do believe our Offense lines up very well with the Vik's D (meaning we have an advantage, not even). I don't think that they will be able to stop us. It's still the O that will bother me till the D shows me they are playing at the pro level. Culpepper will adapt to life without Moss (just depends on how long it will take) and they will consistently have fresh RB's with their RB by committee.

If we can stuff their "subpar" running game and force Culpepper to look for a "phantom Moss" then we will be better for it. But the other key thing is keeping a spy on Culpepper so he doesn't leave the pocket...and we -have- to pressure him in order to get him to make mistakes.

It isn't going to be handed to us, but I do believe we will win at home! I am glad we got this game early!
