I've seen several sources here in Pittsburgh continue to discount the Bengals as any real threat. The majority of them locally say that the Bengals will end up below .500, with 7-9 being the absolute best they could obtain.

One example is the often referenced source of stillers.com. Their AFC North prediction?

1. Pittsburgh 13-3

2. Baltimore 9-7

3. Cincinnati 7-9

4. Cleveland 3-13

And their analysis/reasoning?

"The Steelers Nation looks for a trip to the Super Bowl after what should have been a trip their last year. On offense, Ben is going to improve, look for Ward to catch 90 balls or so, and about 40-50 catches from ARE, Cedric and Heath. Willie Parker will have an impact on offense. Questions abound over Simmons and Starks, but they will be fine. On defense, the return of Casey may free up Farrior to have a better year than he did last year. The improved play of Harrison hopefully keeps Haggans and Porter fresher in January. The CB’s should undergo a youth movement with hopefully Ike replacing Wee Willie soon. Troy will be a monster, the key for opposing teams’ OC will be to find where Troy is. Our special teams should be improved, Jeff Reed gives us a tremendous homefield kicking advantage. Until Kyle Boller shows he is an NFL calibar QB, the Ravens’ will be no more than a WC contender. Ray Ray may not be the best LB on his team, he’s definitely not the best LB in the division. No question, the defense will be good, need to see how well offense can be for them to contend. I don’t buy all this crap that the Bengals will contend for not only the division, but the conference. There is talent at WR and RB, Carson Palmer is a decent (so far) QB. Until I see even an average defensive effort from the big defensive coach Marvin Lewis, the Ben-gals will remain in mediocrity. In a perfect world, the Brownies go 0-16. This may be as close to a perfect world as we can get. Charlie Frye has a chance to be a good QB, but if the Brownies get the number one pick, can they pass up Matt Leinert?"

Don't "buy this crap"? Palmer is a "decent QB"? "Mediocrity"?

Bring it on, you Pissburghers! Home of the Black and Urine.

Let's start with tearing up the Brownies, and then finish things with the Ravens and Steelers. Division is where it is at, and I expect that Palmer, Chad, Rudi, and company will stick it to 'em this year.

Go Bengals!

The Bengals are gonna hafta beat Pittsburgh.

I made a bet with Crime Fighter over there, and if I lose....

Anyway,

I frequent that board because I made a bet last year (and lost) so I had to pay up. But honestly the Pittsburgh fans aren't even confident about the Titan's game.

Steve McNair is totally healthy, and I think the Titans can beat them.

The Steelers ran the ball the most out of anyone in the league last year, and there two marquee rusher's are out. I don't think so.

They're gonna make Ben throw, and dogleg outta that pocket.

We all know what happened a couple seasons ago when Cowher tried to get cute and implement an 'aerial attack'. *cough* 6-10 *cough*

However, I expect Heath Miller to perform pretty well, I forsee a lot of dump passes caught in this young man's future. (That's my FF tip, free of charge B) )

I wouldnt expect anything less than for all our divisonal foe fans to predict their team is going to go to the playoffs or improve from last year.....After all noone has played a game yet!

I listened to Bruce Jacobs on FoxRadio last night.. His predictions were

1. Bengals too much firepower not to make the playoffs..d has improved too.

2. Ravens great defense maybe the best in NFL...Boller sucks though

3. Pittsburgh wont make the playoffs this season...

4. Cleveland called them the Clowns

Noway TERRY, I mean PITT. wont even come close to the year they had last year but TENN. is nowhere near the team they used to be.
