Baxter and Suggs doubtful for Sunday

BEREA, Ohio -- Cornerback Gary Baxter and running back Lee Suggs were listed as doubtful on Cleveland's first injury report of the season, another sign they may miss the Browns' opener against Cincinnati.

Baxter hasn't practiced since sustaining a concussion in an Aug. 20 exhibition against Detroit. Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Baxter was scheduled to see a doctor on Wednesday.

If Baxter can't play, Leigh Bodden will start at right cornerback on Sunday, with Daylon McCutcheon on the other side. McCutcheon missed all of training camp and most of the exhibition season with migraine headaches.

Suggs has been sidelined since suffering a high ankle sprain in practice on Aug. 17. He's no longer wearing a protective boot, but he hasn't improved enough to practice.

Tight end Aaron Shea is listed as questionable for the opener with a strained shoulder muscle.

Fact is, I want to be able to beat teams fair and square so there are no excuses. But I like this news. Our game against Cleveland is a rivalry and rivalries tend to break all expectations. With Baxter out, our air attack is set to have a great day, and with Suggs out, Droughns will be carrying a lot more of a load and will probably run the ball a lot less.

That's a good point. I guess I just think we should hit teams hard and knock out first string teams so their fans don't have any excuses. We kicked the s**t out of them cause we're good, not cause manning was hurt. As far as depth at position goes, I think we're in pretty good shape. I'd feel really confident with Kitna in.

it hurts the team alot if key players get huret but can't take away from victory because of 1,like us if rudi went down we'd have perry,palmer goes down we have kitna downgrades but still glad we have them over(joe smoe 1 and joe smoe 2)

Injuries won't determine who wins this game. Turnovers, effort and execution will. The only way we lose this game is if our guys come into it thinking it's going to be an easy 'W' and/or we lose the turnover battle significantly. If neither one of those things occur we should start the season 1-0.
