Can anyone out there name a Quality (top of the line-first rate) free agent that the Bengals have ever signed, that was not drafted by he Bengals to begin with? No?OK!I will not hold my breath, get my hopes up,or waste my time thinking about Corey Simon.I havebeen down that road too many times this year.I would believe the Easter Bunny ,Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy signed a free agentĀ  originally drafted by anotherĀ  team before I would believe Mike Brown did.

Did all of those Free Agents help the Redskins get

to the Playoffs ?

How about the Raiders signing Sapp ?

The Seahawks haven`t won a Playoff game since 1984.

The Patriots got Rodney Harrison off of waivers

and traded for Corey Dillon. They don`t sign big name

Free Agents...they let them go. They build through the draft and pick

up quality players off of Trades or the waiver wire.

Anyway YES Shayne Graham and Tory James were both

signed and not drafted by the Bengals.

Torry James was a 2nd tier free agent when signed by the Bengals.I will give you that he made the pro bowl and has turned out well.Like when they signed Ashley Ambrose, teams were not beating the door down to sign them.Even though Ambrose and James made the Pro Bowl .When they were free agents most teams wanted them as a nickel back and they were not on the top of everyone's list like Simon is.Both cornere were let go by their teams because they blamed them in part on a playoff loss.As far as Shane Grahm goes he just got beat out and was cut by the Panthers when they signed him and like Ambrose and James chose the Bengals because of a a sure starting spot .Grahm was only paid when he was RE-UPPED after he was on the team for a while.Rudi Johnson was drafted by the Bengals and RE-SIGNED. Like I said Mike Brown does not go out and get free agents .You may be right I may be letting my dislike for Brown's ineptness shade my opinion. But it does not change history. And, you are letting your hopes cloud your view of reality. How many players have you got your hopes up on only to have Mike Brown kick you in the teeth.Where is Sapp, Sharper, the other Sharper,Pat Williams ,Pat Williams(By the way they have tried like hell to get him),Bert Berry,Sam Adams(about 5 times)Tony Siragusa,Bobby Taylor,Troy Vincent?.I could go on and on. I know you cant win them all:but, really?

I never said Mike Brown does not spend money ,he does.He overspends on guys he drafted to keep them.He just does not get the free agents he did not draft , at least not the top ones.Raynard Wilson is a good example. He was a bust for years .The last year of his contract he flashes a little ability.Mike overpays him.The next year back to old Raynard.Akili Smith is bust a couple of years into his contract Mike has a decision to make give him another Big Bonus (Renew his contract) or let him go .Mike RE UPs him .Helen Keller could have seen that Akili Smith was a total bust. That was wasted money because Mike will pay anything to keep his own bust joke of a player but can not cough up the dough for the sure thing proven vet free agent.

Free Agency is a two way street, the team has to be interested and the player has to be interested. I applaud the Bengals for doing things the right way when it comes to Sapp, Taylor and Vincent, you should never overpay for players in their 30's. It sets you up for failure in the long run. See the Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers for your examples. If you mis manage the cap it catches up with you eventually.

Sapp is, and was, over the hill and just a fatso. Same thing with Sam Adams, who hasn't even been ON THE MARKET about 5 times. Tony Siragusa was never even pursued.

You haven't got a clue, fool.
