derekshank
I'm in favor of Dexter Reid over Ifeany Ohately at this point... not based on performance reasons, but because I don't want to have to learn how to pronounce that name. We already have guys like Houshmendzadeh, Kaesviharn, Herena Daze Jones and Madieu. How many more crazy names can we get. A fan can only take so much. Hahahaha....we won't ever beat Pittsburgh in that category. I seriously think they draft all the unique names. Roethlisberger...Tray Essex....Hines....Randle-El...Plaxico Burress....need I say more? I'm not sure about spelling. (my favorite part of that was his first name was Chris) They missed out of Tishmung Biakabutuka though.
BlainThePain
Perhaps a trade with the Eagles for Sean Considine. I was really high on him in the draft. He is a smart safety that could pick up the playbook quick.
bengalsLB
just remebered this is the second preseason ifeany ohately was cut after playing well in the previous season coincedince? or is there somrthing wrong with him
KRUNKJUICE
Who cares if there's something wrong with him, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ARE SAFETYS!!! I never heard of this guy until I was watching NFL network and the Cardinals were playing somebody last week. I saw like two plays and I saw someone shoot in from nowhere to make a tackle on the RB in the backfield and I thought to myself, that's what the Bengals need a SS like that! That's why i'm trippin' right now over this thread. He will be starting over KK very soon.Mark it down!
Sportsdoc
Ohately can hit...he is really big (220 #) but not infrequently his brain goes out and blows a coverage big. Can take poor angles in the open field. BUt can ring bells in the box............As a DC resident, have seen him a lot....... OK as a back up or when you need that strong run support close to the line.
Sportsdoc
Reid is worth a look. Outside of Madieu... we are pretty thin for any quality at safety...KK is a nice person, but he is really a backup FS at best.........Hey, Artrell Hawkins was released.... maybe he could play FS.....No wait..... he stunk, that is why we cut him....................I agree with D-shank.... we have a crazy name limit..... and we are about to exceed the Crazy Name Cap.................... Bengals4Me
K. Herring is out indefinitely and Safety depth now looks like a weak link. Bengals.com reported that SS Ifeanyi Ohalete who was just released by Arizona was headed to Cincinnati for a looksee. Anybody heard any buzz about him? Experience with Marvin in DC and decent historical stats. Good size 6'2" & 220. Sounds like a good possibility, but you always have to wonder why AZ would boot him. schweinhart
Reid works for me but I really like Ohalete. Quite surprised that Zona bounced him, though Ohalete has come up a couple times since he was cut by the Deadskins before the start of last year. IIRC, ML passed on Ohalete off the waiver wire and Zona got him for 2004 then extended him early this year.Ohalete would put this team over the hump at the position IMO because he can knock people off their a$$e$. Maybe some blown coverage, but look at what's there now. Vs. AFC North teams, I'd much rather see a safety of Ohalete's size and power. And he'll come a lot cheaper than the following suggestion off this board from January when much discussion went into what to do about Rudi before he was franchised.Arizona definitely gets an RB this year and it a possible scenarios would be to franchise Rudi and trade to Zona for, say, safety Ifeanyi Olahete (a UFA who started for ML w/ Deadskins) and draft pick/s. Etc........Just thoughts. The_Next_Big_Thing
He's got a cool name. Maybe we can get him, and trade him and Warrick to Chicago for Green and a late round pick. I'd love to see announcers try to say "Ohalete and Ogunleye team up for the sack."
The_Next_Big_Thing
I still say Ohalete belongs in Chicago with Ogunleye...

It would work, IF we expect to have to part with Justin Smith soon. It would be nice to give Geathers another year to improve and fill in at both Ends....Don't see it happening though... Bengals4Me
Opinions seem to be:KK = weak against the big backs/run supportOhalete = Big tackler/blown coveragesWhy not suit up Ohalete against Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Chicago and use KK against good passers like Minnesota, Green Bay, Indianapolis?Situationally using these guys may help hide their weaknesses and utilize their strengths. You wouldn't want a dumb bull playing your centerfield against Peyton Manning and you don't want a ballerina coming up to tackle Jerome Bettis. The_Next_Big_Thing
Why not line Madieu Williams up at strong safety and KK at free safety?
rizzy
Herring is done for the year. They put him on IR to get down to the 68 player number today.
AMC
Why not line Madieu Williams up at strong safety and KK at free safety? Madieu at FS is a better weapon I believe....but KK is not the answer at SS...gotta think the new guy will work into SS but he has played FS more I think....Lewis thinks that safeties are easily flipped from SS to FS and vise versa, so we'll see how it goes.... mtmeece
Kim Herring on IR not sure how to feel about that one??
KiLBurn
I feel it saved him from being cut... By the time he is eligible to return from IR, I think we will have grabbed a couple warm bodies to take his place on the roster.
derekshank
Ohately can hit...he is really big (220 #) but not infrequently his brain goes out and blows a coverage big. Then he'll fit in great in Cincy. Stop the offense dead for 1st and 2nd down, and then give up the 80 yard TD. Isn't that our MO?

Put him in for first and 2nd down and stop them dead on the run, then take him out and put KK in for 3rd down since he's better in coverage.
