gobengals19 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I watched the MNF game tonight and he missed at least 3 tackles on 1 drive including one for a TD. I know its preseason but he looks to have lost at least 1 step if not 2. I am much happier with the way things turned out in getting 2 young LBs in the draft.Sometimes its the deals you dont make that are better in the end. Quote
andybren Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I didn't see the game, but you're absolutely right --- I can't think of a single free agent that we missed out on (or passed up on) who has done anything significant the following season. Marvin has got his system figured out and as a result we've got a number of very talented 1st and 2nd year players, especially on defense. Tell me you wouldn't prefer to have Landon/Pollack/Thurman/Madieu over Sapp/Sharper/Boulware/Vincent. I know it's not a straight-up this-or-that situation, but still it speaks to Marvin's overall strategy. Within the next 2 years we'll have the best young defense in the league and it will be built from scratch. Quote
Rimington over Marino Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 that is the best way. good picks and good schemes. Most of your rosters are made of undrafted college free agents these days. Just top it of with keeping viable players from the draft. Hitting on exceptionally good 3rd and fourths can put you on top. skyline Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Yeah, Ware was looking pretty nasty.I think Sharper will have a great year, but with our depth at linebacker, we don't need him. I'm happy we passed... Quote
