BengalNation1281
The station that the show is on has done nothing to promote it. I have listened for weeks and have heard them talk incessantly about how dumb NASCAR is and a million other things, but not one mention of the show.So today I did something, and I don't know if it will help or hinder the way that the show does. Let me lay it out for you...In the last two local sports shows, I have heard Cowboys fans call up and make comments that were either baseless ("The Eagles should send TO to Cincinnati") or downright insulting ("A team like Cincinnati could go 4-0 in the preseason and 0-16 in the regular season"), and I realized that these Cowboys fans really had no idea what was going on in Cincy right now. As the only Bengals fan down here, and someone who wanted to get some publicity for the show, I called up and basically shot them down, and I also threw out the fact that for every good Cowboys fan who really knows their stuff there are countless numbers who are homers and won't buy into reality. The next two calls after mine were a Cowboys fan who was incensed at what I had to say and a regular on the show who pointed out that everybody used to point to GB as the perennial loser in the '70s and '80s and that a team who had 50 losses in the last five years has no right to continue to consider themselves elite (the Cowboys). So, in the heart of Cowboys country, I fired the first shot. Do you think that this will keep people from listening to the show, or will they listen more often to see if they can prove me wrong?Just wondering what you guys would do if you were the Cowboys fans in this situation. clevelandbengal
It depends if there are other choices. If it is the only sports show around you are fine. Some people just want to hear about football and some people just listen to for the sole reason of disagreeing with you. Up here (Cleveland) there is only one sports talk radio show so I am forced to listen to: "Braylon is gonna be sweet dude", "I think we (the Browns) could sweep the Bengals and split with the Ravens and Steelers", "Dilfer is top quality QB". I continue to listen to this nonsense day in and day out because they talk about football and I love football. If they can turn to another channel who strokes the Cowboys all day then you could be in trouble.
BengalNation1281
This show is on 1440, which is the big sports station in Amarillo. I'm not sure what channel the Cowboys games will be on, but this station has the rights to all of the big games and I am guessing that at least a few of the Cowboys games will be on this station.Besides, as much as I want people to listen, if they are going to listen to some homer Cowboys show then I don't really want them listening anyway. Our show has a Bengals fan, a Packers fan, a Cowboys fan, and a couple of guys whose affiliations are at this time a mystery to me. That mix will make for some fun conversation, even when we don't always have good things to say about the Cowboys. And trust me, I probably won't find too many times when I have really glowing things to say about the Cowboys.
