jjakq27 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...0/SPT/308100005Wednesday, August 10, 2005 Kicker Warley in Bengals camp By Mark CurnutteEnquirer staff writer GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Bengals this morning unveiled a backup kicker, Carter Warley. He was working out with special teams coach Darrin Simmons on the main field during the practice that started at 9 a.m.Kicker Shayne Graham has a sore right (kicking) groin and might not be able to kick in the preseason opener Friday night against New England.Warley followed Graham to Virginia Tech, where he was the team’s kicker. Also of note this morning, wide receiver Peter Warrick was not practicing. He was examined Tuesday night by team physician Dr. Angelo Colosimo. Warrick had hoped to be cleared medically from knee and shin injuries that have disabled him since November, when he was put on the injured reserve list.Wide receiver Chad Johnson (ankle) also was not participating in practice, though he was on the field in street clothes. The_Next_Big_Thing Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Graham will be fine by the time the season starts, and it's not as if he can't get enough snaps throughout the week once he gets healthy. Quote
rizzy Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 It's not bad he is just taking it easy. He can play if he needed to. Quote
Kazkal Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 who ever talked about shayne going down jinxed us lol ! lol Quote
BengalSIS Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 He still feels good to kick, but it hurts enough that it could affect followthru if he keeps pushin it. Let's hope this time off gives him time to heal. ALthough one article said he was still gonna do FG's just not kickoffs. SO, we'll see. I'll ask him how he's doin next chance I get. He's hard to track down when he's at camp. Quote
joshh967 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 So anyway, i make my way down to george town training camp today for both the morning and afternoon session. First off i would like to say that im incredibly convinced now that we have one of the bests offenses in the nfl. I believed it before but now i know for sure. Second, i got to see the new kicker today. Now many of you probably are saying...Who gives a sh*t. But if you could see the power this kid had compared to shayne graham...you would be amazed too. He had atleast a 3 second longer hang time and ten yard longer kick on his kick offs. Just thought i would throw that out there for everyone. I also took some pictures...if im allowed to post them on here and if anyone cares i will. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 If he's that good on kickoffs, maybe he'll actually have a chance at a roster spot. Quote
BengalSIS Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I know the kicker. He played right after Shayne at Virginia Tech. You are slightly exaggarating. His hangtime is at most a second longer, if. First off, Shayne asked them to bring this guy in. He does have better kickoffs than Shayne. But, he isn't as consistent yet. It took him a few to keep em legal. Shayne's hoping the guy gets a good showing while he's here and can get picked up somewhere. His FG's were never as accurate although he has a good leg. I can't say how he has done lately, but he was playing Arena league, so maybe you can check the stats out. It's a different game though, so don't worry too much about misses if there aren't that many. The goals are a little tougher to hit I think. Just no weather to deal with. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Gimme Shayn-o-matic any day !!! Can't beat the accuracy, gotta put points on the board. Kickoffs could be longer, but he said he was working that issue. We shall see, but he's the man... Bengalsis, tell him we wish him well and good luck this year !!! WHODEY !!! Quote
