derekshank
As soon as I heard (on the radio on the way back from Georgetown about an hour ago) that Todd Pinkston was out for the year, I immediately thought - we have to cut one of these guys anyway. Let's get something for a player we'd cut from a team desperate for what we have in plenty - WRs. Strike while the iron is hot, and all that. I am confident that if we trade away Washington, one or more of the others will step up. There's just simply a ton of depth there. True, but you have to realize that the Eagles know this too, so there is not much leverage there in trying to get anything of real value there just now. Also, based on the fact that Washington has had a good camp, I would rather keep him and let go of someone else, unless we are going to get something good from the Eagles. One other thing you might not have thought of - if you think Kelly Washington wil get cut, you don't want him ending up on another AFC North team where his knowlege of the Bengals could provide an edge to a team we play twice every year.Good point there... but if KW is playing well, he won't be the one to get cut, but no doubt there are teams in the AFCN that need receivers, and will probably be in the market try to grab anyone we let go.So the real trick is trading the guy we were going to cut anyway (whoever ML decides that is), and not worry too much about what we get in return, as long as it's not to the Ravens or especially the Steelers. All in all, KW is the only guy we have that would have any real value in a trade, and even then, it's not all that much. My guess is nothing very exciting is going to happen. We'll just end up cutting whoever is at the bottom.
