derekshank Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 The Sporting News has its fantasy rankings. I know fantasy raknings don't exactly matter towards actually winning football games, but along with them it predicts the exact stats it believes each player will have. Stat lines can be pretty important, so what do you think about these?Carson Palmer: 324/532 (60.9%), 3703 yds, 23 TD, 14 INT, 87.5 rating.Rudi Johnson: 320 rushes, 1283 yds, 10 TD, 12 rec, 96 yds, 0 TD.Chris Perry: 72 rushes, 320 yds, 1 TD, 24 recs, 214 yds, 0 TD.Chad Johnson: 94 rec, 1353 yds, 12 TD.T.J. Houshmandzadeh: 67 rec, 866 yds, 4 TD.Schobel: 26 recs, 267 yds, 3 TD.That is about all the projections they made for the Bengals players. unfortunately No defensive projections.I think they are right on Palmer for yards, but he will probably throw both more TD's and INT's.I hope Rudi will have more TD's, but that's probably about right,Chad is about right.T.J. is too low in every category.Too bad Perry won't contribute more to take the load of Rudi. He better stay healthy, or we're sunk. Quote

Palmer - I'll expect to see a higher completion percentage than that. No sir, that 60.9 won't do. Perry - 72 rushes? Less than 325 yards rushing? A single TD? Just 24 receptions? For this type of production a 1st round pick was burned and several million offseason keystrokes were logged? Scraps. Craps. Chapped. Schobel - A projection I would have been interested in reading would have dealt with the 3rd wideout position. Quote
Kazkal Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Schobel - A projection I would have been interested in reading would have dealt with the 3rd wideout positionSchobel hater >_<Palmer will be 28td-14int 3700+yards (give or take a few imo)Chad 1300+12 td sounds fineTJ Sounds abit low on TD yards i'd say he gets 800-1000Schobel I'm guessing 500yards with 5tds Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Schobel - A projection I would have been interested in reading would have dealt with the 3rd wideout positionSchobel hater >_< Not at all. But if you must know I think the production this team gets from the 3rd WR position will go a very long way in determining if they go to the playoffs. As for the TE position I think Schobel can improve a bit on last seasons totals but due to the way the Bengals use the position I think we're still talking about modest numbers. Quote
Kazkal Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 hey i thought those were preatty modest mybe not lol >_< hopfully bengals decide to use him alittle more this year as a weapon not a blocker...the 3rd WR should be intresting though I'm wondering who it will be pdub kdub or henry Quote
derekshank Posted July 31, 2005 Author Report Posted July 31, 2005 I'm not going to spend much time debating stats based upon speculation but here are a few quickies. Agreed, but I thought the stat projections were a little more Bengalszone worthy than just the straight fantasy rankings, and it's interesting to discuss.I also agree that it would have been better to have had stats from Washington, Warrick, or Henry... but that is probably their problem right now. They don't know which one to give those stats to.I also agree about Chris Perry. I'm rooting for him to come around, but based on recent news, I can't argue with the projections, and that makes me sad. We're going to need more RB Depth. Quote
