It's the option you mick if you don't like the real answers ;)

BIG NUMBERS: Anyone who thought Pro Bowl right tackle Willie Anderson would come cheap can officially think again. Anderson says he’s not mad at the Bengals for their offer to extend his contract after the 2006 season, but he also says, “Honestly, it was so small I can’t remember what it was. My agent didn’t even want to show it to me.”

Anderson doesn’t think the Bengals are interested in an extension, since he hasn’t heard from them after he sent in his counter offer. Anderson says it’s in line with the recent extensions signed by elite tackles Jonathan Ogden, Walter Jones and Chris Samuels. That means guaranteed money in the range of $16 million.

“I’m not mad at them. I’m a business man, too. I have 24 employees,” said Anderson, who owns the Fat Burger restaurant franchise in Atlanta. “I just told my agent to forget it and I’m going to concentrate on being the best right tackle in the NFL and go out and do my job. The way I see it, that means for the next two years I go out, protect Carson, and do whatever I can to the utmost to help the Bengals win the Super Bowl. Not just get to the playoffs, but win the Super Bowl. Then, the way it’s headed, I’ll be a free agent.”

Anderson, who turned 30 two weeks ago, is perplexed why the Bengals are hesitant to lock him up long term. He probably won’t be on the field to start training camp Friday as he rehabs from knee surgery, but he has looked impressive enough in workouts to let people know he’ll be ready for his 10th season.

"I’m getting better. My career is on the upswing," Anderson said. "I’m making Pro Bowls at 28 and 29 instead of my game slipping."

I don't think he goes anywhere. Alot depends on the length of the contract and where money is given (Front or Back loaded). The CBA will play a part as well, I would imagine. I hope he stays. You have to love the comments made about how he's not worried and is looking to get the Bengals to the Super Bowl. Not the playoffs, the Super Bowl...

He thinks hes better than he is. To quote Corey Dillon, "Hes just a guy." Hes not gonna get the kinda numbers Ogden, Jones, or Samuels got, here or anywhere, he will just have to learn to live with that.

I wonder if there's incentives, like playing time etc.. which probably the key in determining his future (i.e. question being injury). If he plays all 16 games, he gets a lot more $$$.

Stacey Andrews in the pipeline to replace Willie?

look Corey, Willie was all about you. He said some seasons the only reason they played as hard in December was to get you to the Pro Bowl and over 1000 yards. There's no need to turn on him.

He's got two years left on his current deal. This is just the business side, with the Bengals and WIllie each jockeying for position. The Bengals offer him a low ball deal, he comes back with a franchise deal, and the negoitiate a middle ground. I think we're at least a year from worrying too much about this topic.

I also think that Willie has purposely made himself the veteran "voice" of this team for this particular reason.Backing marvin, talking about enduring the losing and how the organization is turning a new leaf In reality, he's trying to do something like T.O, he's just going about it the right way. Say the right things, do the right things, become the voice of the franchise, and the fans will support resigning him heavily, putting pressure on the Bengals to make a P.R. splash(even though that's not their Forte)

In a business sense I have to give Big Willie credit, this is a very savvy move and I think will ultimately lead to a very good deal for him, probably close to this time next year.

Stacey has been moved to back up the left side dont forget, Big willie should stay in stripes but onlyn if he doesnt bust our balls. DPM Willie is the best right Takle in the leauge now, he didnt allow a single sack. Please give respect where its due or we who value your insight might lose respect in your opinion. The real ? is at 32 how many years will he have left in him if we give hima big contract? We might just end up cutting him if we overpay and taking a salary cap hit. I hope we dont have problems with smith and Levi.

To quote Corey Dillon, "I'd rather be flipping burgers". Like anything he ever said carried any weight. Time to get over it Pushy. Corey's never coming back.

They don't sell filet mignon at Fat Burgers, do they?

They ain't gonna give elite LT money to ANY RT.

Big Willie knows it.

Still, there's no reason to think Big Willie can't play at his level for another 5 yrs, even with the microfracture hanging over his head right now. He ought to be the best paid RT in the league. But I don't see him getting any kind of extension that's gonna cause more of a cap hit this year. They should be able to work it so a new deal this year cuts money off the cap.
