Irish Bengal
I'm a white guy and I hate Walters and like Washington. We didn't draft our WR to start this year we drafted them to improve our special teams with the potential to start in the future. How many first year WRs that are not 1st round picks actually contribute significately on offense their first year anyway. WR is a tough position to learn your first Year with all the adjustments they have to make. That's why I think Walter and or Russell's days are numbered. HairOnFire
Sheesh, I'm about as white as the hypothetical lovechild of Molly Ringwald and Edgar Winter.* So does the fact that I'm pulling for someone who isn't of my own race make my defense of Kelley Washington even stronger? I hope not. Look, I like Kevin Walter. I respect what he can do well. I just happen to think there are players on the roster who not only have more upside, but are far more productive right now. And as much as I respect what Kevin Walter provides as a special teamer...if he doesn't have a future in the base offense....he'll always be a bubble player in my eyes. And there's the rub...because I see almost no future for Walters in the Bengals base offense, and apparently neither do most of the fans who are pimping him.*Dated reference. WhoDey
Ok so the race factor was just something I was throwin out there...The fact is Kevin Walter did make some key plays on offense the little that we saw him...How do you know if he had more PT than K Wash he couldn't have scored 7 or more touchdowns?! Look at TJ. I remember this time last year many of you were saying the same things about TJ. Well when PDub got hurt who stepped his game up? Not Kelly. Walter seems like the type of player to do the same thing TJ did if given the chance. KWash had his and he blew it!
Kazkal
If we diden't draft tab perry I woulden't mind keeping walter or russel, but Kdub hasen't been a bust yet IMO took 4 years for TJ to break out.Kdub has been here 2 and has helped the team with his 700yards+7tds in 2 years and I hope he'll have a break out year this year.If pete isen't healthy I'd say Chris henry / Kdub would share other wideout spot and TJ would move to slot on 3wr+ formations

I thought Henry was the field stretcher opposite of Chad. If not then he gets little playing time in lieu of Washington.Something is going to give. Either Warrick is gone now and Henry and KW play or Henry sits this year and takes over next year assuming Warrick is gone.Hell, I hope KW does have a breakout year. I just think that he missed his best opportunity last year when Warrick went down. Now with Warrick back, I really don't see Washington getting many balls thrown his way. andybren
An injury happened last year (PDub), and just how did having KDub on the roster make any difference? Did he really do anything that Russell, Walter or Broussard couldn't do?Yeah, he did. He caught 31 receptions for 378 yards and 3 TD's. I seriously doubt that Russell, Walter, or Broussard could do that if given the opportunity. In fact, all three of them combined in their careers have a grand total of 116 receiving yards and 0 TD's. I'd rather have the best receiving corps in the NFL 1-5 than 4 good receivers and a special teams player. Thanks for reiterating the Squirrel's stats -- I didn't have the official site in front of me. But now I do, and you know what I noticed? KDub's numbers are comparable to those of Matt Schoebel. As in the TE whose performance had many on this forum screaming for the team to draft a better pass-catching tight end. Are you truly suggesting that we should accept the numbers of a mediocre TE from a starting WR? To the point that we don't look for more up-and-coming talent? As for Russell, Walter and Broussard's stats, of course they don't compare to KDub's -- they haven't had comparable playing time. It's like saying Leon's better than Rudi simply because he's gained more yards over the course of his career (and no, this isn't an invitation to re-open the Leon vs. Rudi debate).I'm not here saying that KDub is a bad player, or that Russell, Walter or Broussard are absolutely better. I'm just saying that KDub hasn't lived up to expectations and there's no reason why we should give somebody else a chance to earn his job. And if KDub's can't keep himself in the top 4, then there's little chance (barring injury) of him ever returning to the top 3. Why not use his spot on somebody who might work his way into a starting position?
