Lesson in Never Giving Up

I want to relate a story from last year about fan loyalty and never saying never. And I thought maybe some of you had simular stories.

I live in Milwaukee. Of course, Bengals games are never on local TV, unless it's an afternoon game and they are playing someone of interest to the local sports community. So in order to watch a Bengals game I go to "Romaines", it's a local sports bar that shows every game in the NFL on Sundays (it's a wonderful place!!). I'm always a fixture there on Sundays to watch the Bengals games. There are 3-Bengals fans there besides myself, and usually my GF would join me if she could. Well, last year I'm sitting there watching the Ravens/Bengals game. It was a pretty even game up until right before half-time as most of you know. My GF had called a couple times saying she was doing xmas shopping and would be there soon. Well, again as most of you know, the Ravens were winning after half-time and into the 3rd quarter. Then towards the end of the 3rd quarter the Bengals got an interception and started running for their goal line, only to fumble have a Ravens player pick it up and go in for a score. Score is Ravens 21, Bengals 3. I was heart-sick, I was depressed, I was blue..... I called my GF and said "Don't bother coming here, 'we' look like crap, I'm going to join you with xmas shopping". So I got up and left.

We finished shopping and went to her place and I turned on Sportscenter to get a final score. I joked with her saying "I'd be SO pissed if the Bengals somehow came back and won that game. Then the Ravens/Bengals highlights came on and the commentators were saying what a miracle ending it was, how the Bengals came back and won the game on a last second field goal.

Part of me was laughing at how surreal it was, and part of me was about to cry for missing one of the greatest comebacks in Bengals history.

I will NEVER walk away from a game again!

I agree. Last year at the Buffalo game it was nearly 0 degrees out and my friends wanted to leave, luckily I drove that day, I said no. After seeing how explosive the Bengals are on offense I new there was a chance we could do something. Sadly it didn't happen but the moral of the story is football is like the lottery you could be poor one minute and be rich a minute later.

"I will never leave a bengals game untill the last second on the clock has run out."
