The Big Orange Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Recently came accross these articles...About best QB in AFC North...http://www.pfcritics.com/news/QuarterbackRankingsWhosThe.phpAbout the best RB in the AFC North...http://www.pfcritics.com/news/RunningBackRankingsIsDepth.phpAnd the best WR in the entire NFL (I don't think anyone in the AFC North is even close)...http://www.e-sports.com/articles/573/1/A-new-No.-1 Quote
GROIIIDayton Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 If all of this comes true then the bengals should be deep in the playoffs without a doubt... come on defense. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Interesting that the author of the PFCritics lists proclaims himself (in his bio on the site) as a Cleveland Browns fan. Quote

Ickey44 Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Dude, that guy didn't come in here flaming and disrespecting the Bengals. Why you hatin' on him? He could just as easily point out the Bengals haven't been that great for the last fifteen years, but he didn't. Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Wow, he's got Chris Perry ranked as the 9th best RB in the AFC North. That's some lofty praise that I'm not sure is warranted. Quote

Once the Browns had a good team, one that the folks in Cleveland could be proud of. Once they had a team that fans across the nation rallied behind demanding that the name and tradition stayed in Cleveland when the asshat of an owner up and left. Now they have the next best thing to an NFL franchise. PFCritics Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 It's ok, all I can do as a fan is keep cheering for my team and hope for the best.I'm planning on doing my wide receiver rankings soon, and since you guys seem to be interested, I'll try to post them here when they're finished. I wonder where Chad Johnson would rank on my list It'll be tough for me to decide with Hines Ward on Pittsburgh. Quote

I wonder where Chad Johnson would rank on my list It'll be tough for me to decide with Hines Ward on Pittsburgh. Been there, done that. Remember, we Bengals fans know all about hoping for the best and cheering the best we can..... As far as Chad vs. Hines, we are talking about two different types of receivers. Chad is the fast big play guy who can do some possession receiving. Hines is the possession receiver who occasionally breaks a big one. You have to decide if the big play is more important than the must catch. Quote

I like Chad Johnson, including his gameplay and taunts.(Although it was funny when he dropped about five passes after sending pepto bismal to the Browns players )I would have picked a Browns avatar, but there were only Bengals ones, so i picked Chad. And to the next big thing, that's why it'll be difficult. Hines is a reliable veteran who can be counted on with tons of possesions, while Chad is more of the big playmaker.I may have to go with Ward, since Chad does have some young guys around him that can take away some of his touches, where as Ward doesn't have Burress on the other side of him anymore. Shouldn't a ranking of players be determined by their talent level instead of a level of production that may be determined by other factors? It's one thing if you think Ward's numbers will grow due to there being fewer options in Pittsburgh, but can you make the claim that he's the better wideout when all things are equal? If you can't I'd suggest you rank the players accordingly and attempt to explain the likely difference in stat production by mentioning the circumstances. That said, does anyone think if Hines Ward was a Bengal that he'd supplant Chad Johnson as the 1st option? Or how about the idea of Ward remaining the Steelers 1st option if Chad were to become a Steeler? Please. Quote
The Big Orange Posted July 7, 2005 Author Report Posted July 7, 2005 I think Chad often gets button-holed as only a deep threat. truth is he is a threat anywhere on the firld. The only 2 digs to make about Chad are his downfield blocking and YAC. But I'd trade the deep threat that he kills Hines Ward in for the blocking that Hines is better at.This year Chad will be far better at YAC as he has spent his offseason as this being his number one goal.I just read that Carson set a goal for himself to become a 4-1 (TD-INT) ratio this year...that would be swell by me. PFCritics Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Well, in my QB and RB rankings, I said I was ranking based on how I felt they would produce statistically this year. So yes, between Ward and Johnson, I was basing it on stats. Quote
Ickey44 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I'm interested in who you think wins the North this year. Quote
Kazkal Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 If I'm not mistaken it's fantasy football ratings not who is a better player (IE rudi scored higher then jamel)I love hines ward but Chads a top 5 receiver skill where hines is top 10.Hines is one of the more complete receivers where he's good at everything best at nothing (well mybe besides his blocking) Quote

So yes, between Ward and Johnson, I was basing it on stats.Chad Johnson will produce again this year, with more touchdowns and yardage than Hines Ward. The fact that Ward DOESNT have a real threat on the other side like he has in the past will hurt his production. Chad won't be double covered as much when you throw Pooty Tang on the other side and Warrick/Henry in the slot.Besides, you don't earn fantasy points for blocking! Quote

Kazkal Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Well another thing is the one who gets double teamed so mybe if the other receivers start doing good it will make things even easier for him (not like those stop him) Quote

As good as chad is there is alot of room for improvement..He had 95 catches but was thrown to 170 times which ranked first in thrown to.He dropped 14 balls ranking first. He has a very low yac..He didnt block all that well.TJ on the other hand was 6th in percentage of passes caught/thrown to 73.96th in catches for a first down on third and long 19both can improve on their overall play....
