bengalsLB Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 what if 1 of our three top coners go down who would step up.example: tory james goes down for the season; ratliff moves to starter who takes the nicklebck spot Quote
StripesNTn Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I hear they have been impressed by Brandon Williams. His speed might make him a very nice nickel back. Quote
schweinhart Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 I'd say Bauman if he's really gonna play this year. Myles did nice work when he played nickel vs. Steelers.I wouldn't be surprised to see Keiwan starting ahead of James by mid-season, though. If O'Neal goes down, I'd rather see Madieu start there. IMO he's got better man coverage skills on an island than Keiwan. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 im guessing madieu moves to nickle on those situations and KK plays safety. Quote
AMC Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 im guessing madieu moves to nickle on those situations and KK plays safety. That is the most logical scenario... Quote
schweinhart Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 It's great to have a dude like Madieu who has staked a claim that he's the best FS, the 2nd best man cover CB (IMO), the best slot cover man in nickel, and proly the best SS on the team. He's even more versatile than Eugene Wilson. But I would still hope that Bauman makes a strong bid for nickel w/ or w/o injury to a starter because of the quickness he showed at the LOS to blitz QB and tackle for loss. Bauman sure looked like that he was the quickest DB off the line in the brief stint he had early last year.No doubt ML likes him a lot. Bauman was drafted in 3rd rd by Skins when ML was DC there. Plus, he was claimed off waivers right before the season started last year and stuck immediately. If Bauman is fully recovered physically and emotionally from last year, he really could provide another weapon in the arsenal on D.
