CaliBengalBoy86 Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Whatsup all you diehard bengal fans, im sittin here in Orange County and just became part of this forum today, it took me a while to find this site since there isnt a fan forum @ bengals.com, but since i found it a few weeks ago I have been excited to wake up each day and read everyones thoughts during this painful off season...cant wait for the season to begin. And with that said, id like tell to all of you what I think about one of our newest Bengal wideouts Tab Perry. Im a huge Bucks fan and was raised in milford, Ohio...but recently moved out here to California, srry enough about me...It sucked not having Ohio state to watch anymore so i was forced to watch UCLA and USC but saw many Bruins games and thought that Perry was their only real shining star on the team...They had the Ball twins on D who were spectacular and a pretty good D in general, but Tab was the go to guy on Offense. I know that WR is a position that we have a lot of talent at already and its a shame that someone is going to be on the short side of the stick(if that is how the expression goes). TP seemed to blow by all of the PAC10's best backfields(not that this is too great of an accomplishment) and made some remarkable plays the past few years ive seen him play, he may need to refine his route running skills and possibly put on a few more pounds, but i definitely see this rookie doing some damage in the NFL, doubt he will see much playing time this year, if he even makes the squad, but i can definitely see him workin his magic on Punt and kickoff returns if given the chance. This guy's definitely got a lot of potential for when they got him in the draft. Just thought id give a little of my input since many of you may not have gotten to see many highlights from him. Love'd to hear your guy's thoughts on if Tab will have a chance of makin the squad. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Welcome. I'm a bruin alum and catch as many games as I can now. FSBayArea doesn't show all of the UCLA games, but a fair number. Perry and their TE, Marcedes Lewis, were definitely the through-the-air options for the bruins last season. It's really hard to judge how anybody in the Pac-10 passing game is going to translate to the NFL though. QB examples are numerous (don't even say the "A" word), Leaf, Boller, etc. Receivers are kinda the same. I think overall the offenses typically dominate the secondary defenses in the Pac-10 and can skew how players look. I also remember Freddie Mitchell lighting teams up and Cade McNown throwing and scrambling, so keep that in mind. On the other hand, Chad and TJ are curently tearing it up, so you never know. Due to his size and ability to return punts, I think Perry just might stick on our roster. I'm keeping an eye on him. He's definitely a play maker -- just don't know if he's fundamentally sound enough. Should be fun to watch camp and pre-season.Anyway, welcome fellow Cali native! Quote
BengalPappaw Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 What I like about Tab Perry was his "yards after catch". I watched several UCLA games and in each one he caught a pass over the middle ran for another 10-15 yards. He showed a good stiff arm and strength in breaking tackles. My only concern is how much he can contribute on Special Teams (running kickoffs back and making tackles ?) so he can stay of the team and not be put on the developmental squad -- where we might lose him to another team. This looks like a great year for the Bengal WRs -- we have several very good WRs. Quote
