HairOnFire Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Perry is going to be great one day though. My guess is that it'll be on a Wednesday...it won't count....and he'll be his old broken self by the time the game gets played on Sunday. Quote
schweinhart Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Yea 2K7 I agree, it sounds like we may have something with Brandon Williams I look forward to watching Williams play. I like Bauman as a nickel and his quickness is for real but it's hard to tell where he's at mentally and phsyically. Not as thrilled about Brooks but do want to see him in action. The whole Roberts and Myles shot at safety thing will be interesting too but Myles has got to be given to make the team as a gunner 1st and foremost even though he showed up well playing nickel last year when he was called to do it.IMO Brooks and Roberts are on the bubble most of the DBs who have a realistic shot to stick. jrandom42 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Bauman had a rough season last year. Achillies injuries are always tough to come back from and many of them are career enders. Mentally, the death of his son last Thanksgiving, is devastating. Kinda makes you remember football is just a game, and fan opinions have little to do with life and death Quote
bengal4life Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 I'm still undecided about Perry's ability on the NFL field. I do know that he was one of the most durable backs Michigan(pissinapan) has ever had playing for them. He set the pissinapan's record for most carries in a game and that was against Ohio State's punishing defense. I think he will be a huge threat in the passing game kind of like Westbrook (not a great runner but good in the flat). Some of you people think that just because someone can't play for a season, due to injury, they suck. that's ridiculous. His character does seem to be short of what ML's players are. I agree with Big Orange when he was talking about when Perry just dropped the hose of water, that definitely frowns on his character, but I do think he will be productive as long as he gets stuck on Marvin and not Perry and his chronic injuries go away. walshfan Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 An observation my wife and kid had about Chris Perry during minicamp open practice. He drank some water from the wheeled out water machines they have along the sidelines. Perry was doing some running drills along with Warrick and Landon Johnson (no jerseys on, just sports shirts). After taking a drink the hose that was attatched to the machine didn't click off like it should. He dropped the hose. Then he looked down at the hose just continuing to squirt water on the ground thus draining the machine. The guy turned around and started watching practice. He was just going to let it run all out. Landon saw what was happening so he non-chalauntly (how the hell do you spell that?) walked over and turned the hose off. He didn't say anything to Chris. He just turned it off. I don't know why Chris was okay just letting the water drain out, but it seemed to say something ugly about him. The same kind of feeling when he was holding out...kind of a pre-madonna type attitude. I'm not sure if that who he is, but he kinda strikes me as an immature/selfish kind of guy. Interesting observation about Perry....maybe he's not mechanically inclined and was embarrassed to ask someone how to turn it off!!!! He just may be selfish, immture and self centered.. Most pro athletes are, arent they? Been pampered since they became a star in junior high or high school..Allways around hangers on and yes men.... nature of the beast for most of them.Thats why Palmer, Rudi and a few others are so refreshing and a joy to root for. UofLnMU Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 The hose anecdote seems to remind me of the kids that play for the high school I teach at--they just don't seem to think about the implications of their actions, unless they would benefit/harm them. A shame that Perry is like that. Oh well, I guess I'll live, though. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 wow you guys are reaching with the hose thing. mb he isnt supposed to bend over due to his injury... Quote
derekshank Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 It sounds like we have several reasonable explanations for the hose thing. Probably he's just inconsiderate. I know a lot of inconsiderate people. Hey everyone is inconsiderate sometimes (some people all the time). Unless that makes him unwilling to block, I don't really care. Really it just means that he'd be kind of difficult to live with, I doubt it effects his football ability. It also means I rather not live with him, but he still hasn't called me back about that, so I'm not too worried. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 You're all missing the point of the hose parable. The tank represents the old Bengals and the hose is free agency/cuts. Perry is in favor of getting rid of the old, and presumably pampered Bengals who thought just sitting around was enough to keep them on the team. By not turning off the "hose" he is supporting Marvin's house cleaning and bringing in of fresh, new, clear, and thirst-quenching talent to the squad. Kudos to you Chris Perry. I'm thirsty..... Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 . . . the hose parable.BBTB - LMFAO. Let me guess which bay you live near . . . Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Oh here it comes, light up the homophobe sign. Yes, I'm the one gay guy in the history of the world who loves football. It was the worst day of my life when the whiners traded Garcia. Yada yada yada. PS - You are correct, everyone that lives in San Francisco is gay. That's why there's 0 population growth and everyone dresses well and is a good dancer. Fresh take DD. Looking foward to the "know what GAY stands for..." joke that I last heard in high school, but definitely feel is coming. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 BengalByTheBay - Who put a burr up your a$$? The bay area is (also) known as the home of more religions / churches / zealots per capita than anywhere else east of Bagdad. I thought your parable was great."I had a gay friend once . . . " Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 "I had a gay friend once . . . " Nice! Don't worry DoubleD, we're good. I'm just still pissed that I don't dress well and can't dance. Also, as a religious zealot, I wanted to defend my parable as completely heterosexual (although maybe just a little curious). Quote
