bengalsLB Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 would marvin consider changing to a 34 it reallly helped the chargers run d and would increase our sack total.robinson at nose ,thorton and smith at end, simmons pollack thurman johnson at linebackers and the secondary is the same Quote
Kazkal Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 I don't mind using it part time but I perfer to stick to 4-3 rather then join the patriot band wagon. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 We don't have a nose tackle, and our linebackers aren't really 3 4 backers, they are fast smaller guys as needed in a 4 3. Quote
bengalsLB Posted June 7, 2005 Author Report Posted June 7, 2005 odell, pollack and simmons are pretty big landon is the only realy small LB like i said robinson could play nose Quote
UK Bengal Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 No dont agree going to it full time i think we will be using it in certain situations but as this topic has been done to death i will end it there and say our base will deff be 4 - 3 Quote
Spain Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Watch the M lewis interveiw he laughs when asked about a three four. I love the three four but in the words of Parcells (when with the pats) its to hard to get the talent to run it. Quote
derekshank Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 You must not have been around right after the draft when everyone was bringing up the idea that Marvin Lewis was going to the 3-4. It's just not going to happen. Robinson is not a nose tackle. He is actually a DE converted to DT, and is not nearly big enough to take up the kind of space a NT needs to. Last time I checked, he's actually under 300lbs. He's not a nose tackle. This would also sit Geathers on the bench, who most people on this forum are really excited about having a breakout year... so no thanks. I'd like to keep our breakout players on the field, and wait on rookies (thurman) to prove themselvles before changing our whole defensive scheme around them. Also, in an interview, when asked about the 3-4 Marvin Lewis actually laughed. This seems like he isn't planning on using it very often, if it all. I think he'll stick it in there are on certain downs, when it makes sense... but since we have no nose tackle, we need the 4-3. Thornton is a DT, and will play much better this year next to Robinson. This should help our run D much more than using an undersized NT. Quote
