Pollack and Thurman

Recommended Posts

I'm new here but been a Bengal fan since Sam Wyche wore number 14. I just watched JP sports telecast of Georgia @ Kentucky. If you watch that game, I was impressed with Pollack in that game because he chased plays down. I haven't seen a D lineman do that since Krumrie. Pollack may have not been in on the tackles but he was in the area. I saw 47 on every play. Justin Smith may chase down the line but I saw Pollack chasing 10-20 yards downfield. Most D lineman would have to go to the sideline for oxygen if they ran that far.

I think that may be why Marvin fell in love with him. He may have been to that game. How far is it from Cincy to UK stadium. Less than an hour down I-71. I haven't been in Kentucky since '75. I slept on the ride to and from so I still don't know.

Another thing I noticed Thomas Davis did not play. If Eagles offered 2 second round picks I hope Pollack doesn't get hurt. I think he is a quality player. We shall see.

Yeah, basically 2 first rounders as far as I'm concerned. Can't ask for much more.

Now if Thurman and Pollack can just turn out to be the Bengals version of Ray Lewis and Jamie Sharper :D

Bengals got their version of Eugene Wilson and Asante Samuel last year in Madieu and Keiwan so the D is rising fast.

The Bengals strongly considered taking Georgia linebacker Odell Thurman in the first round last week, but Lewis was against taking a kid with character issues that high in the draft. Some inside the building pushed for Thurman in the first round, thinking the kid wouldn't be there. The Bengals took Georgia defensive end David Pollack in the first round, then were lucky enough to get Thurman in the second round. At that point, he was worth the risk. Thurman is expected to play middle linebacker for the Bengals. The staff was thrilled to add a player of his abilities. They think his off-field issues are nothing more than maturity problems. If that's true, and this kid is on the field as a rookie, he might be on his way to being the heir apparent to Ray Lewis as the best middle linebacker in the game. "He has that look," said one team's linebackers coach.

That read just made my day :D

We kept our off from last year that put up some good numbers. We addressed some problem areas on our Def and I think this is our year to get into the playoffs. I haven't seen Pollack or Thurman play, but from what I've read, these will be two great NFL players. Go Bengals. Get the job done.

Agreed it's gonna be sweet! A "D" that can stop someone, cool Beans, and the "O" is steller, the recieving corp is among the best, our running attack should be thunder & Lightning. The Line is solid if not as experienced as prior, with much promise in the near horizon; and now the Defense it's all good! :player:
