jjakq27 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Share Posted April 25, 2005 http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...SPT02/504250355Monday, April 25, 2005 Son of Bengals great not drafted Family mum on what next step isBy Mark CurnutteEnquirer staff writerAt very worst, Michael Munoz was supposed to be drafted in the third, maybe fourth round.But the former Tennessee left tackle, the son of former Bengals great Anthony Munoz, went undrafted Saturday and Sunday in the annual NFL selection meeting."No comment right now," Anthony Munoz said Sunday night when reached by phone."We're kind of sitting here talking now."There was no word on where Michael Munoz might sign as a free agent.Anthony is a partner in Integrity First Management, the firm that represents Michael Munoz and some other NFL prospects and players.Anthony is the only former Bengals player enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.The Bengals passed on Michael Munoz, taking two Central Michigan offensive linemen, including tackle Adam Kieft (No. 153 overall) in the fifth round."With Michael, we picked Stacy (Andrews) to play that spot," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said during Sunday's fifth round. "Michael's going to get drafted pretty quickly."Andrews, a 2004 fourth-round draft pick, is a backup right tackle.Lewis spoke in the middle of the fifth round; 255 players were drafted through seven rounds. Michael Munoz was not one of them."Where we are as a football team, it wouldn't be fair to him," Lewis said when asked if the Bengals considered drafting Munoz. "I think Michael has lived in that (pressure) and has dealt with it."Former Miami cornerback Alphonso Hodge was drafted No. 147, by the Kansas City Chiefs. Former RedHawks defensive tackle Larry Burt signed as a college free agent with the Cleveland Browns.Former Kentucky defensive tackle Vincent Burns was drafted No. 92 overall in the third round by Indianapolis Saturday night.
