Chucktkd Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Jags sign DT Tony Williams April 6, 2005JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran free agent defensive tackle Tony Williams on Wednesday, as the team continues to revamp its defensive front. Williams will likely be a backup behind Pro Bowl tackles Marcus Stroud and John Henderson. The 29-year-old Williams played six games with the Cincinnati Bengals last season before missing the rest of the season with a broken ankle suffered in October on a cut block in a nationally televised game against the Denver Broncos. He finished the year with 17 tackles. Williams had missed just three games in three previous years with the Bengals. He has 260 tackles and 22 sacks in eight seasons with the Bengals and the Minnesota Vikings. Quote
Chucktkd Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Good for him...Many thought his career was over...I'll still root for him. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I will never forget the last shot of Tony WIlliams in a Bengals uniform. Being carted away, flexing both biceps. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I've always liked him, but even if he hadn't suffered the injury I think his days as a starter were rapidly coming to an end. That said, it's nice seeing him get an opportunity to finish his career with a very good defense. If he can get his health and quickness back he should be a quality wave player for the Jags. Quote
